AIM: To demonstrate the nicotine absorption and dependence potential from unlicensed nicotine containing lozenges.
DESIGN: A single case report of dependence on nicotine lozenges, plus measurements of nicotine levels before and after consumption of eight nicotine lozenges over 2 hours in volunteers.
SETTING: Hospital Smokers' Clinic.
PARTICIPANTS: One male patient suffering from schizophrenia who had consumed 150 "Stoppers" lozenges per day for the previous 5 years, plus seven non-smoker volunteers.

A model of Mg metabolism in sheep is proposed. It is based on standard Michaelis-Menten enzyme kinetics to describe the transport of Mg across the rumen wall and passive diffusion to describe the absorption of Mg in the hindgut. Absorption of medium chain triglycerides (MCT) was estimated in 10 patients with stagnant loop syndrome (SLS). This study was designed to determine whether the surgical procedures for gastroduodenal ulcers influence sulfamethazine (SMZ) absorption and disposition. Prior to and on the average 79 days after surgery, eight patients received 10 mg kg-1 of sulfamethazine orally.
