[Current application status of 3D bioprinted artificial bone implants in orthopedic surgery].

In the field of 3D printing technology in the medical application is becoming more and more widely, especially in orthopaedic surgery, its importance is increasingly prominent. This technology through precise biological tissue engineering, and can be produced with the patient's own tissue matching the artificial bone implants, thus in the bone graft surgery and cosmetic surgery play a key role. With the deepening of the research found that different material and printing method can significantly affect the artificial bone implant biological specificity and clinical effect. In addition, the per

CD4+ T Lymphocytes-From Their Multiple Immunological Roles to New Sensing Strategies Using Marine Magnetotactic Bacteria-A Systematic Review.

CD4+ T lymphocytes are important regulators of immune homeostasis, and their dysregulation is closely linked to a wide range of diseases. For this reason, their reliable detection remains a major challenge. Despite the fact that current methods are analytically robust, they rely mainly on laboratory infrastructure, limiting their flexibility and wider applicability. The present review analyzes established and emerging approaches for CD4+ T-cell detection, with a focus on their practical limitations regarding portability, flexibility and applicability. To the best of our knowledge, for the firs

Biologic therapy in the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies.

The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) are a group of autoimmune diseases resulting from inflammation of muscle and manifesting as weakness, though a range of extra-muscular manifestations are observed. These are often correlated closely with disease subtype and the presence of myositis-specific/myositis-associated antibodies. IIM are notoriously difficult to treat and often refractory to glucocorticoid therapy and synthetic immunosuppressants. Both the innate and adaptive immune systems are implicated in the pathogenesis of IIM. A growing understanding of the key cytokines as well as th

Biological and biochemical characterization of isolates of Trypanosoma evansi from Pantanal of Matogrosso--Brazil.

Ten isolates of Trypanosoma evansi from the Pantanal region of Brazil, recently derived from coati (Nasua nasua, carnivora, Procyonidae), horses and dogs, were characterized on the basis of biological (experimental infections in Wistar rats) and biochemical (multilocus enzyme eletrophoresis) data. Biological data were analyzed by Nested analysis of variance and Kruskal-Wallis. Marked heterogeneity in virulence was observed in the isolates. Some of the isolates showed an undulating parasitaemia, typical for African trypanosomes. This biological heterogeneity did not correspond with the biochemi

[The combined action of protein-containing dust and sulfur dioxide (experimental studies)].

The authors obtained new concepts on immune and biochemical response conditioned by character and circumstances of combined biologic and chemical agents. The article covers role of chemical technogenic pollution promoting transfer of compensated adaptation into decompensation phase with sensibilization or allergy in some cases and with toxic allergic reactions in others. The calculated values include a generalized parameter that, if changed over preset level, could be a risk criterion for the certain diseases.

Dynamic Inference Limits in Plastic Recurrent Networks Under Invasive Measurement.

We derive a lower bound on the error of parameter inference from invasive measurement in recurrent adaptive networks with online plasticity. The bound decomposes into a variance contribution and a bias contribution, arising from physically distinct components of measurement back-action: stochastic fluctuations injected into the state dynamics and the systematic shift of the state operating point under repeated observation. Under generic measurement families, the bias term and the measurement-dependent component of the variance channel increase with measurement precision through distinct mechan

Leukemic stem cells as drivers of therapeutic resistance in acute myeloid leukemia.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains a highly heterogeneous hematologic malignancy in which therapeutic resistance and disease relapse are largely driven by leukemic stem cells (LSCs). These rare, self-renewing cells possess unique biological properties that enable them to survive conventional chemotherapy and targeted therapies, thereby sustaining minimal residual disease and promoting leukemia re-emergence. LSC persistence arises from a complex and multilayered network of resistance mechanisms, including intrinsic cellular programs, adaptive molecular plasticity, and protective interactions

Sequence analysis and phylogenetic study of some toxin proteins of snakes and related non-toxin proteins of chordates.

Snakes are equipped with their venomic armory to tackle different prey and predators in adverse natural world. The venomic composition of snakes is a mix of biologically active proteins and polypeptides. Among different components snake venom cytotoxins and short neurotoxin are non-enzymatic polypeptide candidates with in the venom. These two components structurally resembled to three-finger protein superfamily specific scaffold. Different non-toxin family members of three-finger protein superfamily are involved in different biological roles. In the present study we analyzed the snake venom cy

Synergistic nanomedicine overcomes hypoxia-driven DNA repair to potentiate radiotherapy for lung adenocarcinoma.

RATIONALE: Radiotherapy (RT) remains a mainstay for inoperable lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), while its efficacy is frequently compromised by hypoxia-driven radioresistance. Hypoxia stabilizes hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), which triggers pro-repair DNA damage response (DDR) programs. This process intensifies replication stress and ultimately enhances tumor dependence on ataxia-telangiectasia and Rad3-related (ATR)-dependent checkpoint signaling for survival. Coordinated suppression of these adaptive programs may overcome hypoxia-driven tolerance to RT and improve therapeutic responses. M

Re-Examining the Applicability of the Linear No-Threshold (LNT) Theory in Radiation Protection for Very Low Doses: Does a Threshold Exist? The Carcinogenic Effect of Radiation and the Possibility of a Dose Threshold.

Integrating recent biological and epidemiological insights, this analysis re-examines the Linear No-Threshold (LNT) model-the current basis for radiological protection-which assumes that cancer risk increases proportionally with any dose of ionizing radiation (IR). Empirical data from a cross-sectional study of 5156 radiation workers indicated a lower frequency of micronuclei in lymphocytes at very low cumulative doses (< 1 mSv) compared to a pre-employment control group. This observation is suggestive of, but does not directly prove, an adaptive cellular response; importantly, micronuclei are

[Hand surgery for rheumatoid arthritis : Current concepts and changes over the past 20 years].

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory, immune-mediated disease of the musculoskeletal system that predominantly affects the hands and feet. The introduction of highly potent biologic disease-modifying drugs (bDMARDs) has led to a reduction in severe joint destruction and surgical interventions over the last two decades. Nevertheless, hand surgery remains an essential component of interdisciplinary therapy. Joint-preserving measures such as selective arthroplasty and partial arthrodesis are increasingly being performed today instead of arthrodesis, which was more common in the pas

An update on pediatric invasive aspergillosis.

Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised adults and children, the number of which has been continuously increasing in the last decades. The purpose of our review was to provide epidemiological, clinical, and biological data and antifungal treatment options in the pediatric population. Several biological assays (galactomannan enzyme immunoassay, β-D-glucan, detection of Aspergillus spp. DNA) have proven useful adjuncts for the diagnosis of IA in adult studies. However, data on these assays in children is limited by small sample sizes and somet

Predictors of stress in parents of children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

This study examined child characteristics and family factors as predictors of stress in the biological or adoptive parents of 6- to 12-year-old children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs). Impaired executive functioning, poorer adaptive functioning, externalizing and internalizing behavior problems, and adoptive parent status all made significant and independent contributions to the prediction of higher levels of child domain stress, as reported by parents on the Parenting Stress Index. Biological parent status and fewer family resources were associated with higher levels of parent

Psychological aspects of anorexia: areas for study.

Anorexia and weight loss are frequently the first manifestations of cancer. Although psychological reasons are frequently included as a partial explanation for loss of appetite and weight in the cancer patient, there have been no systematic studies which establish the nature of this relationship. It is proposed that anorexia and cachexia are at times somatic consequences of the cancer patient's beliefs and attitudes about their disease and its treatments. The inability to overcome a sense of hopelessness leads to an adaptive biological reaction called conservation-withdrawal. The effects of th

A robust topology optimization based biomechanical computational framework for patient-specific trabecular bone microstructure reconstruction.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Accurate reconstruction of trabecular bone microstructure is essential for understanding bone health and mechanical competence. Low-resolution computed tomography images, however, lack the detailed information that is needed to depict fine trabecular architecture. This study aims to develop a computational framework that reconstructs subject-specific trabecular microstructure with improved accuracy and stability by incorporating mechanical and biological variability inherent in bone adaptation. METHODS: A robust topology optimization framework was developed to predic

Perceived everyday discrimination and leukocyte gene expression in a nationally representative sample of U.S. Adults.

Perceived everyday discrimination is a psychosocial stressor that is adversely associated with biological health. These associations may be partly mediated by the modulation of leukocyte gene expression through stress-related neuroendocrine pathways. The Conserved Transcriptional Response to Adversity (CTRA) provides a framework for examining how everyday discrimination may alter molecular signaling pathways through coordinated changes in gene expression. This study quantified associations between perceived everyday discrimination and CTRA patterns in a diverse, nationally representative sampl

Spatial Omics Technologies in Glioblastoma Research: Principles, Applications, and Best Practices.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Glioblastoma (GBM) remains the most aggressive primary brain tumor in adults, characterized by inevitable recurrence, extensive inter-and intratumoral heterogeneity, and resistance to current therapies. A defining feature of GBM is the dynamic interplay between malignant cells and a diverse tumor microenvironment (TME), which together drive disease progression, therapeutic adaptation, and relapse. Understanding these complex cellular ecosystems has therefore become a major focus of glioblastoma research. Recent advances in spatial omics technologies have transformed our

Forensic DNA phenotyping: Prediction of eye and hair colour and allelic frequency estimation in the Italian population for the development of a reference dataset.

In recent years, Forensic DNA Phenotyping (FDP) has emerged as an innovative "DNA intelligence approach" aimed at predicting externally visible individual characteristics from biological traces collected at crime scenes or from biological samples of unidentified corpses or skeletal remains. This study aims to analyse the allele frequency distribution of genetic markers involved in the prediction of eye and hair colour in an Italian population sample, to enhance the existing European dataset. A large cohort of Italian individuals with at least three generations of ancestry was recruited, ensuri
