PURPOSE: To report a small-aperture intraocular lens (IOL) implantation after corneal trauma.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 17-year-old boy with corneal scars, iris defect, and aphakia after perforating trauma in the right eye was scheduled for small-aperture IOL (IC-8; AcuFocus, Irvine, CA) implantation under general anesthesia. No intraoperative complications were observed. Six months after surgery, the uncorrected distance and near visual acuity increased significantly. Risk factors for graft failure after penetrating keratoplasty were investigated in 961 patients from records collected prospectively by the Australian Corneal Graft Registry. This clinicopathological case report describes the bilateral ocular pathology in an elderly man suffering from primary open angle glaucoma, aphakia and a ciliary body melanoma which was treated by cryotherapy to preserve vision in the better eye. Here we present a potential novel surgical technique consisting of fixation of a posterior-chamber intraocular lens to the iris that may be used in the treatment of aphakia or the management of intraocular lens complications when capsular support has been compromised. A retrospective study was done for 95 eyes of Egyptian children in whom I.O.L. implantation was performed between 1985 and 1986 to treat unilateral cataract due to trauma or congenital or aphakia. PURPOSE: To describe the common risk factors, complications, and management options for anterior migration of Ozurdex implant.
METHODS: A comprehensive review of the literature was performed.
RESULTS: Amongst the most common risk factors predisposing to implant anterior migration we found a history of pseudophakia or aphakia or previous vitrectomy. The most common complication is that of corneal edema.
