A young woman was buried in a sitting position in sandy soil in a shallow grave. Left bronchial isomerism is a rare condition characterized by a bronchial structure on the right side that is a mirror image of the left side. In this report, we record our experience with a 62-year-old female lung cancer patient in whom left bronchial isomerism was discovered during surgery using a thoracoscope. Human patients with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of fungal infections. Diabetes mellitus has also been implicated as a predisposing factor in the establishment of fungal lung infections in cats. Two diabetic cats of different origins presented with severe acute respiratory conditions that resulted in their death. UNLABELLED: An 80-yr-old woman with a complicated Echinococcus cyst of the liver underwent endotracheal intubation with a simple endotracheal tube and conventional mechanical ventilation that led to massive rupture of the cyst into the bronchi followed by fatal anaphylactic shock. This report describes the finding of nodular collections of heterotopic brain tissue in the lungs of a stillborn anencephalic infant. Immunoperoxidase staining was performed on the nodules and on the neural tissue found at the infant's cranial defect, for neuron-specific enolase, glial-fibrillary acidic protein, carcinoembryonic antigen, and epithelial membrane antigen. Our aim was to study the effects of a chronic exposure to SO2 on the permeability of bronchial epithelium in the rat, in vivo and in vitro, in relation with a marker (ferritin). The anatomical lesions observed in light and electron microscopy considerably increased the passage of ferritin both in vivo and in vitro through the epithelium of trachea and primary bronchi.
