OBJECTIVE: To classify the clinical symptoms of oligodontia and summarize the characteristics of the diseases.
METHODS: 33 patients with congenitally permanent teeth missing (6 or more than 6) were taken clinical examination, diagnosis, prosthetic treatment and made records of the status of tooth agenesis, systemic symptoms, and family history.
RESULTS: The symptoms of oligodontia were clinically classified into two groups: oligodontia with or without systemic syndromes. And the former has two typical kinds of diseases: anhidrotic/hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (EDA) and Rieger syndrome.

Polypoid lesions of the gallbladder (PLG) are rare in childhood. The authors describe 2 additional cases. A 12 year-old-girl was found to have a 5-mm gallbladder polyp during an ultrasound examination for nonspecific abdominal pain. Investigation showed no other biliary tract abnormality. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder that is characterized by inappropriate hyperglycemia and is associated with both acute and chronic complications. The paper presents the comparison of late results of surgical treatment of congenital clubfeet using a number of assessment classifications. 61 feet in 46 patients treated between 1979-1990 with a mean follow-up time of 15.7 years. Strong correlations were noted between the various classifications, but none was found "ideal" or particularly useful in everyday clinical practice.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: A comprehensive classification for spinal trauma has proved difficult to achieve as attested to by the number of systems in use today. In addition, few systems can be applied to all levels of the spine, and the first two cervical vertebrae are usually treated as altogether separate from the remainder of the spine. Consequently, outcome data and comparison of published data are difficult, at best.

BACKGROUND: Manifestations of immunosuppression may take the form of opportunistic infection, and neoplasia. While this paper has focused on gingival and periodontal manifestations. these tissues cannot be evaluated in isolation. The presence of involvement of other oral tissues such as the cheek or tongue with manifestations associated with HIV such as hairy leukoplakia, Kaposi's sarcoma at these sites, and candidiasis in addition to periodontal manifestations may further increase the clincal suspicion of underlying immunosuppression and/or progression of the immunosuppressive state.
