BACKGROUND: We present a review of our experience with combined surgical therapy with endovascular stent repair and conventional revascularization of the supraaortic and/or visceral/renal arteries (hybrid procedure) in the treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections.
METHODS: We followed 20 patients (7 women, median age 58.3 years, age range 37-68 years) prospectively. Severe comorbidity was present in 7 patients, 13 patients had previous aortic surgery. BACKGROUND: Intralobar sequestration (ILS) associated with congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM) is a well-known entity. This hybrid form has many considerations for an appropriate management. This report aims to analyze pitfalls in the diagnosis, treatment, and thoracoscopic procedure pertaining to this association.
METHODS: Between May 2004 and September 2007, 23 fetal lung lesions were diagnosed prenatally and managed at the authors' institution. Seven of these lesions were the hybrid form of ILS-CCAM. The records for these lesions were reviewed retrospectively.

We generalize the noncollinear formalism proposed by Scalmani and Frisch [J. Chem. Theory Comput. 8, 2193 (2012)] to include the particle and spin current densities for meta-generalized gradient approximations and local hybrid functionals. We present fully ab initio simulations of Fe L-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) for archetype single-molecule magnet tetrairon Fe4 using a linear-response time-dependent density functional theory with a spin-orbit coupling scheme. We present a computational study on the redox reactions of small clusters of Li superoxide and peroxide in the presence of halogen/halide redox mediators. The study is based on DFT calculations with a double hybrid functional and an implicit solvent model. It shows that iodine is less effective than bromine in the oxidation of Li2O2 to oxygen. Novel pyrroles have been designed, synthesized, and evaluated against mycobacterial strains.
