A patient with Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy was followed up from 9 to 26 years of age. Serial electrocardiographic studies showed changes ranging from early cardiac conduction abnormality as first degree atrioventricular block to sick sinus syndrome. In addition the development of cardiomyopathy was documented by electrocardiographic, echocardiographic and radionuclide studies of the heart.

Two patients undergoing endocavitary ablation for resistant supraventricular tachycardia had cross sectional echocardiography performed during the ablative procedure. In both cases immediate opacification of the right heart cavities occurred at the time of the current discharge. Ambulatory monitoring of the electrocardiogram was performed in 131 healthy boys aged between 10 and 13 years for two consecutive periods of 24 hours. When awake the maximal heart rates ranged from 100 to 200 and the minimal from 45 to 80 beats per minute. During sleep maximal rates were 60 to 110 beats and minimal rates 30 to 70 beats per minute. A total of 300 patients were operated upon for heart valve disease by the same surgeon. The affected valve was the aortic in 200 cases and the mitral in the other 100 patients. The tricuspid valve, coronary arteries, and myocardium were not involved. PURPOSE: Substructure-level heart dosimetry may improve the evaluation of long-term cardiac toxicity in childhood cancer survivors, but detailed pediatric heart models are limited. We developed age-specific heart models (1, 5, 10, and 15 years) using high-resolution imaging and integrated them into computational phantoms to estimate cardiac substructure doses in patients treated according to the National Wilms Tumor Study protocols and evaluate the impact of anatomic detail on radiation therapy dose estimates.

We mapped the sequence of ventricular depolarization in the crocodile Crocodylus johnstoni. We also attempted to find specialized conduction tissue within the ventricular myocardium.
