The coronal flap has recently become a preferred approach for the otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon requiring access to the craniofacial skeleton and orbit. The variety of cases in which it has proven indispensable include craniofacial reconstruction, facial trauma, and tumor resection. This method of exposure has become particularly useful with increased indications for rigid internal fixation and primary bone grafting in the management of complex facial fractures. The purpose of this study was to report the articulation scores of 351 subjects with cleft palate from the ages of 2-6 to 18-0. Analysis of the data indicate that, as a group, subjects with cleft palate are retarded in articulation skills. However, they continue to improve in this regard past the age at which normal speakers have achieved articulation maturation. This information should be compared with that acquired from other centers in order to determine how typical these findings are.

We report an outbreak of thyrotoxicosis without true hyperthyroidism that occurred between April 1984 and August 1985 among residents of southwestern Minnesota and adjacent areas of South Dakota and Iowa.
