BACKGROUND: Imbalances in cardiac branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism and mitochondrial homeostasis are implicated in the onset and development of heart failure. However, the mechanisms triggering the downregulation of cardiac BCAA metabolism in heart failure remain unclear.
