BACKGROUND: Primary coenzyme Q(10) (CoQ(10)) deficiency is rare. The encephalomyopathic form, described in few families, is characterized by exercise intolerance, recurrent myoglobinuria, developmental delay, ataxia, and seizures.
OBJECTIVE: To report a rare manifestation of CoQ(10) deficiency with isolated mitochondrial myopathy without central nervous system involvement.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article discusses the many tools available for the treatment of pregnant and postpartum patients with headache. Adequate treatment of headache is an essential part of good prenatal and postnatal care.
RECENT FINDINGS: New therapies such as the calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibodies, lasmiditan, direct calcitonin gene-related peptide antagonists, and neuromodulation devices are available for the treatment of headache. This article contextualizes these new therapies in practice as they relate to the treatment of migraine in pregnancy and lactation.

Impacts of an additional cooling event during the night on physiological and productive parameters of two breeds (B) of dairy cows under severe heat stress conditions were determined. Fifteen Holstein (H) and 15 Jersey x Holstein (JxH) cows were assigned to one of the two cooling strategies (CS), where the difference was an added 1 h cooling event during the night (i.e., 3X and 4X cooling events) with the 4X group having the added night cooling event. Miliaria, which is extravasation of sweat into the epidermis and dermis due to sweat duct obstruction, is a commonly seen dermatologic disorder in newborns. We present a case of extensive, widespread miliaria crystallina that developed in a newborn during treatment of severe hypernatremic dehydration. A possible mechanism could be the destruction of sweat ducts with excretion of sweat with high levels of sodium.

We used localized 1H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to study the metabolic changes in the brains of patients with migraine during the interictal period. We present the MERISE method for the design of an information system, detailing data modelling. An exploratory research program on peri-partum pathology in intensive dairy herds is used as an example. The information system is divided into thematic subsystems called 'fields', which are represented by a global conceptual scheme. For each field, a detailed conceptual model is then determined through precise modelling guidelines. This division facilitates the validation of models by the partners of the project, and makes it possible to re-use the fields in other research programs.

A carbon dioxide hypersensitivity theory of panic has been posited. We hypothesize more broadly that a physiologic misinterpretation by a suffocation monitor misfires an evolved suffocation alarm system. This produces sudden respiratory distress followed swiftly by a brief hyperventilation, panic, and the urge to flee.
