We report on a case of a 61-year-old woman with a giant polypoid BCC, measuring 7.1 x 5.0 x 2.2 cm, on the genital region (the pubic area). The histopathological features of this BCC interestingly showed fibroepithelioma of Pinkus with cornification, and merging with nodular BCC with extensive cornification (so-called keratotic BCC). The giant BCC with features of fibroepithelioma of Pinkus is exceedingly rare.

Although extremely frequent elsewhere on the body, basal cell carcinomas are infrequent on the hands (< 1% of all basal cell carcinomas). Chronic sun exposure is considered as the main etiologic factor for its development but it does not explain low frequency of hand involvement. Basal cell carcinoma of the anus is extremely rare, accounting for only 0.1% of anorectal malignancies. We report the reconstruction of the anus with a biaxial pedicled scrotal island myofasciocutaneous flap following excision of an anal basal cell carcinoma, and conclude that this technique may be valuable in the reconstruction of the anal region.

We describe our experience with two patients with xeroderma pigmentosum who underwent multiple trichloroacetic acid chemical peels. Trichloroacetic acid and phenol were used in one case. Until now numerous treatment modalities have been reported. Deep chemical peeling has not been reported before in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum. Chemical peeling is a simple procedure with less associated morbidity.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with topically applied 5-aminolaevulinic acid (5-ALA) is increasingly used for treating tumours. The efficacy of topical PDT is limited to superficial and initial tumours. Basal cell carcinoma in children is rare. Its occurrence has been described in association with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome, preexisting organoid nevus, and xeroderma pigmentosum. We present a case of solitary basal cell carcinoma in a 13-year-old boy with nonactive damaged skin or a genetically transmitted syndrome. The contribution of this case is to alert the physician to the possibility of basal cell carcinoma in children so that appropriate treatment may be initiated immediately and any delay avoided.

An 82-year-old man presented with rapid enlargement of a long-standing rhinophyma.
