Memories are One-to-Many Mapping Alleviators in Talking Face Generation.

Talking face generation aims at generating photo-realistic video portraits of a target person driven by input audio. According to the nature of audio to lip motions mapping, the same speech content may have different appearances even for the same person at different occasions. Such one-to-many mapping problem brings ambiguity during training and thus causes inferior visual results. Although this one-to-many mapping could be alleviated in part by a two-stage framework (i.e., an audio-to-expression model followed by a neural-rendering model), it is still insufficient since the prediction is prod

R 3LIVE++: A Robust, Real-Time, Radiance Reconstruction Package With a Tightly-Coupled LiDAR-Inertial-Visual State Estimator.

This work proposed a LiDAR-inertial-visual fusion framework termed R 3LIVE++ to achieve robust and accurate state estimation while simultaneously reconstructing the radiance map on the fly. R 3LIVE++ consists of a LiDAR-inertial odometry (LIO) and a visual-inertial odometry (VIO), both running in real-time. The LIO subsystem utilizes the measurements from a LiDAR for reconstructing the geometric structure, while the VIO subsystem simultaneously recovers the radiance information of the geometric structure from the input images. R 3LIVE++ is developed based on R 3LIVE and further improves the ac

Dual-Grained Lightweight Strategy.

Removing redundant parameters and computations before the model training has attracted a great interest as it can effectively reduce the storage space of the model, speed up the training and inference of the model, and save energy consumption during the running of the model. In addition, the simplification of deep neural network models can enable high-performance network models to be deployed to resource-constrained edge devices, thus promoting the development of the intelligent world. However, current pruning at initialization methods exhibit poor performance at extreme sparsity. In order to

Latency-Aware Unified Dynamic Networks for Efficient Image Recognition.

Dynamic networks have become a pivotal area of study in deep learning due to their ability to selectively activate computing units (such as layers or channels) or dynamically allocate computation to information-rich regions. This capability significantly curtails unnecessary computations, adapting to varying inputs. Despite these advantages, the practical efficiency of dynamic models often falls short of theoretical computation. This discrepancy arises from three primary challenges: 1) a lack of a unified framework across different dynamic inference paradigms due to the fragmented research lan

Revisiting Realistic Test-Time Training: Sequential Inference and Adaptation by Anchored Clustering Regularized Self-Training.

Deploying models on target domain data subject to distribution shift requires adaptation. Test-time training (TTT) emerges as a solution to this adaptation under a realistic scenario where access to full source domain data is not available, and instant inference on the target domain is required. Despite many efforts into TTT, there is a confusion over the experimental settings, thus leading to unfair comparisons. In this work, we first revisit TTT assumptions and categorize TTT protocols by two key factors, i.e., whether testing data is sequentially streamed and whether source model is allowed

TagCLIP: Improving Discrimination Ability of Zero-Shot Semantic Segmentation.

Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) has recently shown great promise in pixel-level zero-shot learning tasks. However, existing approaches utilizing CLIP's text and patch embeddings to generate semantic masks often misidentify input pixels from unseen classes, leading to confusion between novel classes and semantically similar ones. In this work, we propose a novel approach, TagCLIP (Trusty-aware guided CLIP), to address this issue. We disentangle the ill-posed optimization problem into two parallel processes: semantic matching performed individually and reliability judgment for imp

U-Match: Exploring Hierarchy-Aware Local Context for Two-View Correspondence Learning.

Rejecting outlier correspondences is one of the critical steps for successful feature-based two-view geometry estimation, and contingent heavily upon local context exploration. Recent advances focus on devising elaborate local context extractors whereas typically adopting explicit neighborhood relationship modeling at a specific scale, which is intrinsically flawed and inflexible, because 1) severe outliers often populated in putative correspondences and 2) the uncertainty in the distribution of inliers and outliers make the network incapable of capturing adequate and reliable local context fr

Optimizing Two-Way Partial AUC With an End-to-End Framework.

The Area Under the ROC Curve (AUC) is a crucial metric for machine learning, which evaluates the average performance over all possible True Positive Rates (TPRs) and False Positive Rates (FPRs). Based on the knowledge that a skillful classifier should simultaneously embrace a high TPR and a low FPR, we turn to study a more general variant called Two-way Partial AUC (TPAUC), where only the region with TPR ≥ α, FPR ≤ β is included in the area. Moreover, a recent work shows that the TPAUC is essentially inconsistent with the existing Partial AUC metrics where only the FPR range is restricted, ope

Full-Volume 3D Fluid Flow Reconstruction With Light Field PIV.

Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) is a classical method that estimates fluid flow by analyzing the motion of injected particles. To reconstruct and track the swirling particles is a difficult computer vision problem, as the particles are dense in the fluid volume and have similar appearances. Further, tracking a large number of particles is particularly challenging due to heavy occlusion. Here we present a low-cost PIV solution that uses compact lenslet-based light field cameras as imaging device. We develop novel optimization algorithms for dense particle 3D reconstruction and tracking. As a

ResNet-LDDMM: Advancing the LDDMM Framework Using Deep Residual Networks.

In deformable registration, the Riemannian framework - Large Deformation Diffeomorphic Metric Mapping, or LDDMM for short - has inspired numerous techniques for comparing, deforming, averaging and analyzing shapes or images. Grounded in flows of vector fields, akin to the equations of motion used in fluid dynamics, LDDMM algorithms solve the flow equation in the space of plausible deformations, i.e., diffeomorphisms. In this work, we make use of deep residual neural networks to solve the non-stationary ODE (flow equation) based on an Euler's discretization scheme. The central idea is to repres

POVNet: Image-Based Virtual Try-On Through Accurate Warping and Residual.

Virtual dressing room applications help online shoppers visualize outfits. Such a system, to be commercially viable, must satisfy a set of performance criteria. The system must produce high quality images that faithfully preserve garment properties, allow users to mix and match garments of various types and support human models varying in skin tone, hair color, body shape, and so on. This paper describes POVNet, a framework that meets all these requirements (except body shapes variations). Our system uses warping methods together with residual data to preserve garment texture at fine scales an

DeepFake Detection Based on Discrepancies Between Faces and Their Context.

We propose a method for detecting face swapping and other identity manipulations in single images. Face swapping methods, such as DeepFake, manipulate the face region, aiming to adjust the face to the appearance of its context, while leaving the context unchanged. We show that this modus operandi produces discrepancies between the two regions (e.g., Fig. 1). These discrepancies offer exploitable telltale signs of manipulation. Our approach involves two networks: (i) a face identification network that considers the face region bounded by a tight semantic segmentation, and (ii) a context recogni

iFlowGAN: An Invertible Flow-Based Generative Adversarial Network for Unsupervised Image-to-Image Translation.

We propose iFlowGAN that learns an invertible flow (a sequence of invertible mappings) via adversarial learning and exploit it to transform a source distribution into a target distribution for unsupervised image-to-image translation. Existing GAN-based generative model such as CycleGAN [1], StarGAN [2], AGGAN [3] and CyCADA [4] needs to learn a highly under-constraint forward mapping F: X → Y from a source domain X to a target domain Y. Researchers do this by assuming there is a backward mapping B: Y → X such that x and y are fixed points of the composite functions B °F and F °B. Inspired by z

MannequinChallenge: Learning the Depths of Moving People by Watching Frozen People.

We present a method for predicting dense depth in scenarios where both a monocular camera and people in the scene are freely moving (right). Existing methods for recovering depth for dynamic, non-rigid objects from monocular video impose strong assumptions on the objects' motion and may only recover sparse depth. In this paper, we take a data-driven approach and learn human depth priors from a new source of data: thousands of Internet videos of people imitating mannequins, i.e., freezing in diverse, natural poses, while a hand-held camera tours the scene (left). Because people are stationary,

On Symbiosis of Attribute Prediction and Semantic Segmentation.

Attributes are semantically meaningful characteristics whose applicability widely crosses category boundaries. They are particularly important in describing and recognizing concepts for which no explicit training example is given, e.g., zero-shot learning. Additionally, since attributes are human describable, they can be used for efficient human-computer interaction. In this article, we propose to employ semantic segmentation to improve person-related attribute prediction. The core idea lies in the fact that many attributes describe local properties. In other words, the probability of an attri

Tracking the Adaptation and Compensation Processes of Patients' Brain Arterial Network to an Evolving Glioblastoma.

The brain's vascular network dynamically affects its development and core functions. It rapidly responds to abnormal conditions by adjusting properties of the network, aiding stabilization and regulation of brain activities. Tracking prominent arterial changes has clear clinical and surgical advantages. However, the arterial network functions as a system; thus, local changes may imply global compensatory effects that could impact the dynamic progression of a disease. We developed automated personalized system-level analysis methods of the compensatory arterial changes and mean blood flow behav

EuroCity Persons: A Novel Benchmark for Person Detection in Traffic Scenes.

Big data has had a great share in the success of deep learning in computer vision. Recent works suggest that there is significant further potential to increase object detection performance by utilizing even bigger datasets. In this paper, we introduce the EuroCity Persons dataset, which provides a large number of highly diverse, accurate and detailed annotations of pedestrians, cyclists and other riders in urban traffic scenes. The images for this dataset were collected on-board a moving vehicle in 31 cities of 12 European countries. With over 238200 person instances manually labeled in over 4

DeepIGeoS: A Deep Interactive Geodesic Framework for Medical Image Segmentation.

Accurate medical image segmentation is essential for diagnosis, surgical planning and many other applications. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have become the state-of-the-art automatic segmentation methods. However, fully automatic results may still need to be refined to become accurate and robust enough for clinical use. We propose a deep learning-based interactive segmentation method to improve the results obtained by an automatic CNN and to reduce user interactions during refinement for higher accuracy. We use one CNN to obtain an initial automatic segmentation, on which user interact

Texture Illumination Separation for Single-Shot Structured Light Reconstruction.

Active illumination based methods have a trade-off between acquisition time and resolution of the estimated 3D shapes. Multi-shot approaches can generate dense reconstructions but require stationary scenes. Single-shot methods are applicable to dynamic objects but can only estimate sparse reconstructions and are sensitive to surface texture. We present a single-shot approach to produce dense shape reconstructions of highly textured objects illuminated by one or more projectors. The key to our approach is an image decomposition scheme that can recover the illumination image of different project

$L_0$ Regularized Stationary-Time Estimation for Crowd Analysis.

In this paper, we tackle the problem of stationary crowd analysis which is as important as modeling mobile groups in crowd scenes and finds many important applications in crowd surveillance. Our key contribution is to propose a robust algorithm for estimating how long a foreground pixel becomes stationary. It is much more challenging than only subtracting background because failure at a single frame due to local movement of objects, lighting variation, and occlusion could lead to large errors on stationary-time estimation. To achieve robust and accurate estimation, sparse constraints along spa
