Semi-invasive aspergillosis is a rare disease leading to severe complications even in fully immunocompetent patients. The therapeutic role of systemic and intrapleural antifungal agents remains not well known. A total of seven patients with bronchial carcinoids were treated at our hospital during the period from 1975 to 1991. Debut of symptoms varied from eight months to ten years before diagnosis. Proximal Interruption of the Pulmonary Artery (PIPA) is a rare congenital condition with an incidence of 1 in 200,000-300,000 individuals. We report the case of a 67-year-old woman with PIPA who presented with massive haemoptysis. We report a case of a caucasic woman aged 55, carrying a Masaoka stage IVa thymoma, initially not suitable to surgical treatment. Over time she developed recurrent infections, dyspnoea and wheeze despite no evidence of tumour recurrence.
