This study describes the isolation of a 11 kDa paralysis toxin from crude larval extracts of Argas (Persicargas) walkerae by exploiting the cross-reactivity of a monoclonal antibody (4B12), directed against the paralysis toxin of Rhipicephalus evertsi evertsi. This low molecular mass is in contrast to previous findings of a 60-70 kDa toxin for A. An immunoprecipitation assay was used to measure omega-conotoxin MVIIC (P/Q-type) binding and blocking calcium channel antibodies in 67 patients with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) and in a large control population. Adherence of trichomonads to host epithelial cells appears to be a critical step in the pathogenesis of trichomoniasis. We evaluated the effect of a panel of 10 monoclonal antibodies on attachment of [35S]methionine-radiolabeled Trichomonas vaginalis strains to HeLa cell monolayers. The nucleotide sequence has been determined for the matrix (M) protein gene of three strains, Niigata-1, ZH and Biken, of cell-associated subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) virus. To determine the frequency and possible immunologic etiology of respiratory and other symptoms after hog barn exposure, we studied 41 hog farmers and their family members.
