BACKGROUND: Coronary artery disease is a common comorbidity encountered during the perioperative period. Whether patients are scheduled for cardiac or noncardiac surgery, this cardiovascular disease must be addressed in the preoperative period to decrease the accompanying risks and potential postoperative problems.
