Hip arthrodesis remains an option for treatment of severe arthritis in young persons resulting primarily from osteonecrosis, congenital dysplasia, and joint sepsis. In this study of 14 patients with anorectal anomalies CT and MRI were employed for preoperative assessment. The use of a pressure enhanced water soluble enema via the colostomy proved to be an extremely efficient method for showing a fistula. MRI studies were enhanced by the use of vaseline oil and in one case this technique was used prior to surgery to provide important information by injecting through a perineal fistula. Partusisten (Th 1165a, fenoterol) was given to 40 pregnant women aged from 19 to 39 years in whom ultrasonography demonstrated placenta praevia. Bleeding occurred between 21 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. The control group consisted of 44 pregnant women aged from 21 to 43 years not treated with partusisten. Bleeding in this group developed between 22 and 40 weeks of pregnancy. A series of 153 feet in 103 patients were surgically treated for idiopathic clubfeet (mean follow-up period of 10.3 years). Thirty-four percent had prior surgery before referral to the authors' institution. Functional results were excellent in 28.7%, good in 37.9%, fair in 13.1%, and unsatisfactory in 20.3%. PURPOSE: Prisoners have a high level of drug use prior to imprisonment. Many inmates report having injected drugs and using cannabis. Prison authorities employed a range of strategies to detect drugs and drug use in prison. However, it was unclear which supply reduction strategies operated, and the prevalence and types of drugs detected in Australian prisons. The purpose of this paper is to examine supply reduction strategies in Australian prisons. Information on searches for drugs, and from inmate urinalysis was collected.
