The radiographic anatomy of the tendon sheaths of the hand and wrist is described. Contrast evaluation, tenography, of these synovial-lined channels utilizing 10 cadaver limbs was accomplished outlining their relationship to adjacent osseous and articular structures. The technique is simple and provides the radiologist with further understanding of the pattern and distribution of roentgenologic alterations accompanying septic and granulomatous processes of the hand and wrist including "horeshoe abscesses" of the palm, osteomyelitis, pyarthrosis, and rheumatoid tenosynovitis. Of 338 children with hydrocarbon ingestion, 134 (40 percent) had pneumonia. Pneumonia was most common after kerosene, furniture polish and lighter fluid ingestion. The pneumonia was most severe, however, with furniture polish. Pneumatoceles occurred in 14 children, most commonly with charcoal lighter fluid ingestion. Pneumatoceles generally appeared late, after the consolidation had cleared. Pneumatoceles were often large, septate and irregular, and sometimes contained fluid levels.

Aneurysms of the sinuses of Valsava are neither rare nor always fatal. They are of three types: congenital, acquired, and associated with cystic medial necrosis. Each can be recognized by its characteristic appearance on plain roentgenograms and arteriography. With surgical repair, the congenital type and that which is the result of cystic medial necrosis carry a good prognosis for the patient. With the acquired type, usually syphilitic, the prognosis with conservative management is good.

We have reviewed the spectrum of gaseous densities in the soft tissues secondary to a perforated viscus. All patients presented late and most were elderly. The most common surgical procedure was diversion of the fecal stream proximal to the perforation. In our series 4 of 7 patients died in the immediate postoperative period. Knowledge of the mechanism and differential diagnosis of this entity will prevent overlooking this possibility, as occurs too frequently, particularly with subcutaneous emphysema of the leg.

Out of 8 patients with Whipple's disease, 7 had roentgenographic findings consisting of slight dilatation of the small bowel, with thickening of the mucosal folds. The eighth patient had no abnormality on roentgenographic study. This series represents the first in which the roentgenographic changes have been quantitatively assessed. Confirmation of the diagnosis by biopsy is important because antibiotic treatment results in marked improvement both clinically and roentgenographically.

Urinary tract involvement with metastatic malignant melanoma occurs much more commonly than generally thought. It is usually part of a disseminated process with a poor life expectancy. The renal parenchyma is the most common site affected, although this is infrequently detected roentgenographically.
