A 73-year-old woman was referred to our institution due to the presence of narrow and bloody stools. On rectal examination, a rectal mass was observed. A 65-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for evaluation of multiple liver tumors following endoscopic polypectomy for rectal polyp a year earlier. The polypectomy specimen was reexamined and showed inclusion of a carcinoid tumor 3 mm in diameter. The perirectal lymph node was palpated by digital examination on readmission. The patient died one mouth after readmission due to liver failure. Autopsy revealed metastatic carcinoid tumor in the liver and perirectal nodes.

A woman was operated on for pulmonary metastasis four years after a radical resection of the rectum, and four years thereafter a solitary metastasis to the left adrenal was found. An elevated serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level indicated the lesion. Adrenalectomy was performed and the patient has been well with no further evidence of disease.
