BACKGROUND: Neovascular glaucoma is similarly as other ocular neovascularizations, a complication of retinal venous occlusions. The objective of the present work was to assess whether it is possible to prevent this complication by isovolaemic haemodilution and laser coagulation of the retina.

The causes of 653 cases of spontaneous vitreous hemorrhage were evaluated. The aim of this prospective study was to determine and compare the orbital Doppler ultrasonography parameters of patients with Behçet's disease (with or without ocular involvement) with those of healthy subjects. We evaluated ophthalmic artery (OA), central retinal artery, posterior ciliary artery (PCA), central retinal vein, and superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) flow velocities and resistance indices (RIs). Detection of the decreased flow velocities in the OA and SOV and the increased RI in the OA and PCA might allow the identification of active period of patients with Behçet's disease.

Retinal artery and vein occlusion are rare devastating complications of central nervous system (CNS) leukaemic infiltrates of the retina and its vasculature. Only a handful of reports exist wherein CNS relapse presents with retinal vascular occlusions. This is usually accompanied by optic nerve swelling and subretinal infiltrates. We present a case of bilateral retinal artery occlusion as a first manifestation of CNS relapse in a patient with acute myeloid leukaemia without optic disc oedema and retinal infiltrates.

We studied 40 patients with a total of 44 retinal arterial macroaneurysms. All patients were followed up for at least six months. Macroaneurysms (MAs) have variable clinical presentations and are still frequently misdiagnosed before fluorescein angiography. PURPOSE: The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the pathogenesis of Terson syndrome (TS), which currently is controversial.
METHODS: The central retinal artery (in 39 orbits), posterior ciliary arteries (in 8 orbits), and central retinal vein (CRV in 21 orbits) were occluded in rhesus monkeys by exposing them to lateral orbitotomy.
