Intentional replantation with apical periodontal ligament preservation: A case report.

BACKGROUND: Intentional replantation (IR) is a conservative treatment option for compromised teeth when the viability of the periodontal ligament (PDL) can be preserved. Maintaining viable PDL cells and using bioactive agents such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) may enhance the regenerative potential of replanted teeth. METHODS: A 59-year-old female patient presented with Grade III mobility and extrusion of maxillary tooth #9 following trauma. Clinical examination revealed a probing depth of 10 mm with bleeding

Pharmacological manipulation of the immediate effects of spinal trauma in neonatal rats reveals a crucial role for TRPV4 receptors.

Physical trauma to the spinal cord causes a massive depolarising injury potential (DIP), transient spinal hypoxia and extensive cell loss at the injury site, disrupting conduction along white matter tracts. This leads to transient hypotonia and areflexia during the spinal shock phase. The link between DIP magnitude and spinal cord injury progression, as well as potential pharmacological interventions, remains unexplored, especially in neonatal age. To limit DIP peak and accelerate motor reflex response (MRR) recovery, we applied selective neurochemicals targeting mechanosensitive and classical

Residual protein levels on reprocessed dental instruments.

Reduction of the initial bioburden on instruments, prior to sterilization, is believed to reduce transmission risks of iatrogenic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Endodontic files are used in the preparation of root canals and are likely to have close contact and become contaminated with neural material from branches of the maxillary and mandibular cranial nerves. This study examined methods used by 22 dental practices to clean endodontic files, and scored visible debris and residual protein levels adhering to 220 dental endodontic files that had been used, cleaned, autoclaved and were deemed ready

Oral rehabilitation of a bulimic patient: a case report.

Bulimia nervosa is among the most common health problems in contemporary society. It is a self-induced weight loss syndrome associated with distinct dental manifestations involving physical and psychologic symptoms. It is characterized by recurrent binge-purge episodes that occur at least once a day. This article describes the complete-mouth rehabilitation of a bulimic patient with a generalized enamel erosion of her dentition and a poor esthetic appearance. Porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations were used as the definitive treatment. Good esthetics and high self-esteem were the final results.

Self-Propelled PLGA Micromotor with Chemotactic Response to Inflammation.

Local drug delivery systems have recently been developed for multiple diseases that have the requirements of site-specific actions, prolonged delivery periods, and decreased drug dosage to reduce undesirable side effects. The challenge for such systems is to achieve directional and precise delivery in inaccessible narrow lesions, such as periodontal pockets or root canals in deeper portions of the dentinal tubules. The primary strategy to tackle this challenge is fabricating a smart tracking delivery system. Here, drug-loaded biodegradable micromotors showing self-propelled directional movemen
