A thermographic study on admission of 174 hospital patients with sciatica revealed a significant correlation between decreased temperature of the distal part of the affected limb and the probability of spinal nerve root compression. Sweat evaporation is the body's primary cooling mechanism, yet the physical factors governing it are not fully understood. We identify a "dueling buoyancy" effect in the context of the human body, in which perspiration vapor reduces the near-skin air density, counteracting the downward flow driven by cooling of warm air upon contact with the skin. This prospective pilot study aimed to investigate the influence of SCC on skin temperature distribution in cats.
