Three eyes of three patients with advanced primary open angle glaucoma developed hypotony and choroidal detachment 2-3 months following technically uncomplicated trabeculectomy, in one patient and facoemulsification in two patients. In seven eyes of four patients, retinal hemorrhages were observed following trabeculectomy under both local and general anesthesia. The hemorrhages were diffuse, both deep and superficial, and many had white centers when first observed. Two patients were young healthy male myopes undergoing primary trabeculectomy. PURPOSE: To report successful use of a combination of autologous blood injection and bleb compression sutures to treat overfiltration with hypotony maculopathy after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C.
