Changes in somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) over the non-affected hemisphere in 61 patients with unilateral cerebrovascular lesions were studied using age-matched controls. A technique for recording somatosensory evoked potentials after stimulation of the patellar branch of the saphenous nerve is described and the results from 11 normal subjects and from two patients with intraabdominal femoral nerve injuries are presented. One patients developed a nerve lesion after an abdominal surgical procedure and the second suffered a gunshot wound causing femoral nerve paralysis. Both patients recovered spontaneously. Evoked potentials from saphenous nerves showed a significant discrepancy between faster motor recovery and delay in reinstating sensory axonal conduction.

In 14 patients with tuberculosis treated with ethambutol hydrochloride, pattern-reversal visual evoked potentials (VEPs) were recorded to monocular, whole-field stimulation before the commencement of treatment and one month and three months subsequently. In six subjects, the VEPs showed changes in the latency and amplitude of the P100 component at the one- or three-month interval. In three cases, the VEP changes reversed after cessation of treatment. Based on normative data from 40 subjects, criteria for evaluating brain stem auditory evoked potentials have been elaborated. Visual evoked potentials, elicited by checkerboard-pattern reversal were recorded from multiple sclerosis patients with different probabilities of diagnosis. The authors discuss problems of localized retinal stimulation including the influence of stray light in cases of electroperimetry by means of VECP. The present study shows that we can successfully perform electroperimetric investigation under certain conditions. Visually evoked cortical potentials were studied in six patients with a homonymous and six with a bitemporal hemianopia by presenting a pattern-reversal stimulus separately to a temporal or nasal retinal area and by recording the responses from leads over the hemispheres. Homonymous visual field defects are characterized by a reduction of VECPs from the affected hemisphere. The disturbance of VECPs in bitemporal hemianopia is more serious, since the fibres from both retinal halves may be damaged by a chiasm tumour.

C57BL/6J mice are not typically susceptible to audiogenic seizures, but temporary conductive hearing loss (via earplugging) can induce susceptibility in these subjects. The present study observed that a 40-dB hearing loss, beginning at 17 days postpartum, requires 2 days before it induces susceptibility to audiogenic seizures. BACKGROUND: Awake craniotomy has been widely used for tumor resection, epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, and carotid endarterectomy. The report on awake artery malformation clipping is rare, especially for anesthesia management.
CASE SUMMARY: A 62-year-old female diagnosed with malformation of anterior cerebral artery at the right side. We clipped the artery malformation with intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) in awake craniotomy. Spontaneous respiration was maintained throughout the procedure by nasopharyngeal airway during the surgery successfully.

OBJECTIVE: To study the characteristics of Somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) cortical components in children with evoked spikes (ES) on EEG.
METHOD: The children were aged 7-12 years, had normal neurological examination and neuropsychomotor development, and did not present signs/symptoms of CNS lesions. Data were compared within a group of 20 "normal" children.
RESULTS: The amplitude of the cortical components N75 and P98, obtained by posterior tibial nerve stimulation, was higher in ES groups as compared with the normal group.
