INTRODUCTION: The objective was to study immune regulation in a mouse model of rheumatoid arthritis that exhibits considerable heterogeneity of disease activity.
METHODS: T-cell receptor transgenic mice, in which nearly all CD4+ T cells recognize a single peptide of type II collagen, were immunized with collagen and observed for development of arthritis for 4 weeks. At 28 days post-immunization, splenocytes were analyzed by flow cytometry and in vitro assays for markers of immune activation and regulation.
RESULTS: Disease severities ranging from 0 to 12 (on a 12-point scale) were observed.

Characterizing the amino acid composition in cell culture and fermentation broth media is important because deficiencies in these nutrients can reduce desired yields or alter final product quality. Anion-exchange (AE) chromatography using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium acetate gradients, coupled with integrated pulsed amperometric detection (IPAD), determines amino acids without sample derivatization. A murine monoclonal antibody (MoAb CO-TL1, IgG1) has been raised by differential screening of hybridoma supernatants on sections of human large and small intestines, followed by screening on colon adenomas as well as on colorectal carcinomas. BACKGROUND: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is the main cause of acute renal failure in both allograft and native kidney. Studies using T cell knockout mice have established an important role for T cells in renal IRI. T cell depletion strategies are effective in human allograft rejection. The expression of membrane-associated forms of lymphotoxin (LT) and TNF were examined on cell lines of T, B, and myeloid origin, IL-2 dependent T cell clones, and peripheral blood lymphocytes.
