A modification of intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, using the 4-flanged IOL fixation technique, through a 2.4 mm corneal incision using a standard cartridge and injector, is presented. An IOL with 4 eyelets is used, through which a 6-0 polypropylene suture is threaded on one side and then loaded into a provided cartridge and inserted to the anterior chamber through a 2.4 mm corneal incision. AIM: To improve the outcomes in patients with inguinal hernias by application of advanced minimally invasive procedures.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The article describes an experience of 59 laparoscopic allohernioplasties in 48 patients at the central regional hospital. There were bilateral hernias in 11 cases. Transabdominal preperitoneal (n=49) and extraperitoneal (n=10) placement of polypropylene mesh graft were used.

BACKGROUND: A 76-year-old female presented to an outside clinic with symptoms of pelvic prolapse; she denied stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The patient had a history of two prior anti-incontinence surgeries. Pelvic examination revealed a grade IV cystocele. No SUI was identified, with or without reduction of the prolapse. Anterior colporrhaphy with cadaveric fascia was performed. Her prolapse symptoms resolved, but she had new-onset severe SUI.
INVESTIGATIONS: Pelvic examination, cystoscopy, urodynamics. DIAGNOSIS OCCULT: SUI unmasked after anterior colporrhaphy.
