BackgroundThe clinical translation of positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracers for cancer management presents complex challenges. We have developed consensus-based recommendations for preclinical and clinical assessment of novel and established radiotracers, applied to image different cancer types, to improve the standardisation of translational methodologies and accelerate clinical implementation.MethodsA consensus process was developed using the RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method (RAM) to gather insights from a multidisciplinary panel of 38 key stakeholders on the appropriateness of pre

BACKGROUND: Existing frameworks of older persons' experiences in health and social care systems are usually based on single stakeholder perspectives and focused on limited aspects that are independent from one another. This study aimed to describe such experiences from the perspective of diverse stakeholders and develop a comprehensive experience-based framework for actionable priorities to enhance Canada's health and social care system.
METHODS: We adapted a nominal group technique with a qualitative approach. We formed four groups of stakeholders (4 older persons, 7 clinicians, 5 managers,

BACKGROUND: The sample size calculation is an important step in designing randomised controlled trials. For a trial comparing a control and an intervention group, where the outcome is binary, the sample size calculation requires choosing values for the anticipated event rates in both the control and intervention groups (the effect size), and the error rates. The Difference ELicitation in TriAls guidance recommends that the effect size should be both realistic, and clinically important to stakeholder groups. Overestimating the effect size leads to sample sizes that are too small to reliably det

INTRODUCTION: Increasing populations and healthcare demand are leading to a burgeoning of private, nongovernmental and informal health providers addressing gaps left by overstretched public primary care and underresourced local government in urban areas in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). While evidence-based interventions exist to address common conditions in primary care, how to implement these interventions within complex urban health system is less clear. Enabling all relevant actors to feed their views and experiences into the process is seen as a key in co-design literature; howe

BACKGROUND: Food systems are a key contributor to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Given the multi-sectoral nature of AMR, a One Health perspective has been advocated. Recent research situates AMR as an emerging property of a complex system, a perspective which can help identify root drivers of AMR and theorise the impacts of proposed solutions. This study aims to combine systems modelling and a One Health perspective to identify system-level dynamics and priority actions for addressing AMR in food systems.
METHODS: We used group model building, a participatory approach to systems modelling, i

BACKGROUND: Preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is highly effective for HIV prevention, yet cisgender women remain underrepresented among PrEP users relative to their HIV burden in the United States. Obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) settings-where many women receive routine sexual and reproductive health care-represent a promising but underutilized venue for PrEP delivery. Despite professional guidance endorsing PrEP discussion and prescribing in OB/GYN practice, implementation remains limited.
METHODS: We conducted a qualitative implementation study with two linked components in an academic OB/

ISSUE ADDRESSED: The health benefits of physical activity (PA) are overwhelming, yet a high proportion of the Australian population does not meet recommended guidelines. Community-based initiatives such as parkrun offer a scalable approach to increasing PA. The parkrun practice initiative links general practice with local parkrun events to support people to become more physically active. In the United Kingdom, 32% of primary care centres are 'parkrun practices', however, this initiative has yet to be examined in the Australian context. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the parkr

BACKGROUND: Maternal mortality remains a major challenge in Uganda, where the maternal mortality ratio is 189 per 100,000 births - fifty time higher than in the UK. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' Excellence in Obstetric Skills (EOS) and Resilience in Obstetric Skills (ROS) courses used a train-the-trainer model, creating locally based Master Trainers (MTs), to strengthen management of obstetric emergencies in Uganda. This qualitative study explored the perceived impact, benefits and sustainability of these courses from the perspectives of Ugandan MTs and UK-based stakeh

ObjectiveEmergency Departments in Singapore face increasing demands for acute care. Possibly due to factors such as an ageing population with increasing burden of complex chronic illnesses. However, a significant proportion of ED attendances are potentially avoidable cases which may not require emergent care. It is timely to consider approaches for Pre-hospital Emergency Care (PEC) redesign that direct patients towards the most appropriate care settings, thereby mitigating demand for emergency care. By gathering stakeholders' perspectives, findings of this study could help to propose and evalu

BACKGROUND: People who are homeless or vulnerably housed face significant health inequities and yet are rarely involved in health and social care research as participants, public contributors or co-researchers. The I Am More Than… project was developed to address this lack of inclusion by working in partnership with community organisations and individuals with lived experiences of being homeless or vulnerably housed.
OBJECTIVE: To co-design a flexible and inclusive approach for public and community involvement in research (sometimes referred to as public and patient involvement or PPI).

Aggression and violence against educators and school personnel have raised public health concerns that require attention from researchers, policymakers, and training providers in U.S. schools. School aggression and violence have negative effects on school personnel health and retention and on student achievement and development. In partnership with several national organizations, the American Psychological Association (APA) Task Force on Violence Against Educators and School Personnel administered two national, multi-informant, cross-sectional surveys. Time 1 data were collected in 2020-2021 f

BACKGROUND: A Core Outcome Set (COS) is an agreed list of outcomes that are measured and reported in all clinical trials for a particular health condition. An 'e-Delphi' is an increasingly popular method for developing a COS whereby stakeholders are consulted via a multi-round online survey to reach agreement regarding the most important outcomes. Many COS studies seek diverse, international input that includes professionals and healthcare users. However, the recruitment and retention of participants can be deterred by various factors (e.g. language barriers and iterative, time-consuming round

BACKGROUND: Medically complex urban patients experiencing homelessness comprise a disproportionate number of high-cost, high-need patients. There are few studies of interventions to improve care for these populations; their social complexity makes them difficult to study and requires clinical and research collaboration. We present a protocol for a trial of the streamlined unified meaningfully managed interdisciplinary team (SUMMIT) team, an ambulatory ICU (A-ICU) intervention to improve utilization and patient experience that uses control populations to address limitations of prior research.

BACKGROUND: Practice-based research networks (PBRNs) rely on sustainable and interoperable IT infrastructures to support coordination, data management, and long-term collaboration across geographically distributed primary care practices. Large federated initiatives, such as the German DESAM-ForNet (Initiative of German Practice-Based Research Networks) program, face substantial sociotechnical challenges, as diverse user groups, heterogeneous local systems, and multiple governance levels must align around shared digital solutions.

Despite the efficacy of trauma-focused therapies, many veterans with PTSD leave treatment prematurely and experience persistent functional impairments. This is often due to anxiety and logistical difficulties surrounding in vivo exposures. Augmented Reality Exposure Therapy (ARET) offers a novel approach to delivering trauma-relevant stimuli within real-world environments. The current study gathered stakeholder feedback to refine an ARET platform (ExpandXR), originally developed for first responders with PTSD, to better meet the needs of veterans with military trauma. Ten veterans and eleven n

The Emotional Well-Being and Economic Burden (EMOT-ECON) Research Network is one of six research networks funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to advance research about emotional well-being (EWB), and the only one that focuses on addressing how economic burden due to disease or illness affects EWB. The network convened researchers, patients, patient advocates, health care providers and other stakeholders from across the US to discuss the significance of addressing the impact of the economic burden of disease on EWB, the complexity of this prevalent problem for patients and familie
