Variations of the indices of endogenous intoxication, lipid peroxidation, oxidative modification of proteins, and antioxidant system operation have been studied in animals with acute experimental cholecystitis. The possibility and effectiveness of using succinate-containing drugs reamberin and mexidol for the correction of these impairments has been assessed. In the present study, reamberin effectively reduced the intensity of lipid peroxidation and protein modification in experimental animals.

Effects of explosions of different intensities on cortical response threshold (CRT) and activities of succinic dehydrogenase (SDH) and acetylcholinesterase (AchE) in the inner ear were studied on 37 guinea pigs. The results revealed various degrees of cochlear damages due to different doses of explosions, and also a negative correlation between hearing loss and the enzyme activities in both TTS and PTS. Hypersensitivity reactions due to chloramphenicol are rarely reported in the literature. We present a case report of a patient with typhoid fever who experienced a hypersensitivity reaction subsequent to the infusion of chloramphenicol sodium succinate. The patient had previously reacted similarly to ampicillin infusion. A brief review of reported cases of chloramphenicol hypersensitivity in the English-language literature, as well as possible alternative explanations in this case, are provided.

The influence of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone on the activities of alkaline and acid phosphatases, adenosine triphosphatase and succinate dehydrogenase were determined by cytochemical methods in sarcoma 180 and Ehrlich's carcinoma cells transplanted in male and female Swiss mice. The results revealed differential effects of the sex hormones on different enzymes which seemed to depend on the type of tumour cell studied and the sex of the host mice.
