OBJECTIVE: Cancer patients have increased risks of leg deep venous thrombosis (DVT). We studied the incidence, risk factors and most predictive symptoms of leg DVT in gynecologic oncology patients.
STUDY DESIGNS: Gynecologic oncology patients with any leg DVT symptoms were recruited and screened using Doppler sonogram. All hospitalized surgery and non-ambulating patients received thigh-high sequential compression devices (SCDs) without heparin as a prophylactic method against thrombosis.
