Placental chorioangioma is the most frequent benign vascular placental tumor, and the prenatal diagnosis can be made by ultrasound. With color flow and pulsed doppler, ultrasound is helpful for the follow-up and the prognosis of this tumour associated with severe maternal and fetal consequences.

We report the case of a 14-year-old man who arrived at the emergency department affected by a high-flow priapism due to a traumatic left arterial-sinusoidal fistula. After clinical examination, a colour Doppler ultrasound of the penis was performed which showed a left arterial-sinusoidal fistula measuring 7×16×30mm, with high-speed and turbulent flow. The fistula was successfully treated by three highly selective endovascular embolizations and at the 20days follow-up, clinical examination resulted normal.

Atrophoderma of Pasini and Pierini is a skin disorder affecting dermal collagen and is clinically characterized by well-defined plaques of depressed skin. Histopathological changes are subtle, and in most cases, the diagnosis requires a comparative study with healthy skin from the same anatomical site. High frequency ultrasound is a useful imaging method for diagnosis of atrophic skin changes. A case is presented in which ultrasound can support the clinical and the histopathological diagnosis of atrophoderma of Pasini and Pierini.

Colour duplex sonography (CDS) of temporal arteries and large vessels is an emerging diagnostic tool for GCA. CDS can detect wall oedema, known as a halo, throughout the length of the vessel and shows higher sensitivity compared with biopsy. Specificity reaches 100% in case of bilateral halos. A positive compression sign has been demonstrated to be a robust marker with excellent inter-observer agreement. The assessment of other large vessels, particularly the axillary arteries, is recognized to further increase the sensitivity and to reliably represent extra-cranial involvement in other areas.
