Trichomonas vaginalis was detected by culture or wet-mount examination in 118 (15%) of 779 randomly selected women attending a sexually transmitted disease clinic. The results of the Manchester study and its reinforcement from data from the multicenter study indicate that the ring is a well-tolerated delivery system for low-dose progestagens. An assessment of the psychologic aspects of total vaginal agenesis was done on 54 patients. Different brands of vaginal tampons varied significantly (p less than 0.0001) in their anti-bacterial effects when tested with 46 strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
