BACKGROUND: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) at the subthalamic nucleus (STN) is an effective treatment for the motor manifestations of advanced medically refractory Parkinson disease. This systematic review collected and summarized recent research on how meat alternative name labeling affects consumer responses. An unusual radiologic manifestation of Pneumocystis carinii infection (enlarged, calcified hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes) in a patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is described. This atypical manifestation caused significant diagnostic confusion. Recognition that P carinii infection can cause calcification of hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes may prevent this confusion and facilitate diagnosis and treatment.

Blood transfusion for chronic anemia can lead to acute or decompensated heart failure in patients who have fluid overload as part of their compensatory response and/or have intrinsic heart disease, and then it could be fatal in such clinical scenarios. This is the report of a case of profound chronic anemia in a young male patient, who was not transfused and then developed confusion followed by terminal cardiopulmonary arrest. We studied orientation-dependent vibrotactile feedback (VF) as a countermeasure to spatial disorientation (SD) in spaceflight analog environments. In Experiment 1, participants balanced themselves in a dynamic motion simulator in Earth (1-g), Martian (0.38-g), Lunar (0.166-g) and 0-g analog conditions. Developmental Topographical Disorientation (DTD) refers to impaired ability to create and consult mental maps in the absence of neurological abnormalities. We present the case study of I.S. to explore diagnostic opportunities for DTD. I.S. showed a very specific impairment in the ability to visualize spatial environments. Impaired performance was found for map use, map recognition and spatial working memory. The interview and observations showed I.S.'s quality of life and life choices have been severely affected by her navigation complaints, which have most likely been misdiagnosed repeatedly.
