Eggs are highly susceptible to simultaneous contamination by veterinary drugs, pesticides and mycotoxins across the entire laying hen production chain, yet the quantitative analysis of these multi-class contaminants with a wide polarity span in egg matrices remains challenging. In this work, an in-house fabricated one-step SPE cartridge coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was established for their simultaneous, accurate and sensitive quantification. Candida auris has recently emerged as a multi-drug resistant fungal pathogen that poses a serious global health threat, especially for patients in hospital intensive care units (ICUs). C. auris can colonize human skin and can spread by physical contact or contaminated surfaces and equipment. Here, we show that the mycoparasitic yeast Saccharomycopsis schoenii efficiently kills both sensitive and multi-drug resistant isolates of C. auris belonging to the same clade, as well as clinical isolates of other pathogenic species of the Candida genus suggesting novel approaches for biocontrol.

Adrenal incidentaloma refers to an asymptomatic adrenal mass detected through an imaging procedure performed for reasons unrelated to adrenal dysfunction or suspected dysfunction. In general, adrenal incidentalomas are non-functioning adrenal adenomas, but in some cases, may require therapeutic intervention: eg., adrenocortical carcinoma, pheochromocytoma, primary aldosteronism, cortisol hypersecretion, or adrenal insufficiency.
