The application of targeted psychological care during perioperative period on children with facial trauma undergoing plastic surgery: A retrospective study.

BACKGROUND: Cosmetic debridement and suture techniques are commonly used to repair facial injuries. However, children with facial injuries often struggle to fully cooperate with surgeons due to fear and crying, which can result in a poorer cosmetic outcome. METHODS: This retrospective study involved 106 children between June 2020 and June 2022, divided into two groups: the control group received routine postoperative care, while the intervention group received targeted psychological care. RESULTS: The intervention group received targeted psychological care, including preoperative education, …

[Trauma of the facial bones and skull].

Facial trauma is frequent and mainly caused by motor vehicle accidents. Due to this main etiologic factor, trauma to the facial skeleton is often associated with serious injuries, commonly involving the brain, chest or abdomen. As a consequence, the initial clinical management of these patients includes control of hemorrhage and immediate assessment of life-threatening injuries, including the maintenance of the airways. Patients presenting with facial trauma are initially evaluated with a systematic clinical examination because many fractures can be accurately diagnosed by inspection and palpa

Different discharge properties of facial nucleus motoneurons following neurotmesis in a rat model.

Facial nucleus motoneurons innervating the facial expressive muscles are involved in a wide range of motor activities, however, the types of movement related neurons and their electrophysiological transformation after peripheral facial nerve injury haven't been revealed. This study was designed to elucidate the types of facial nucleus motoneurons and their alterations of discharge parameters following peripheral facial nerve injury in vivo. Here we set up a rat model by implanting electrode arrays into the brainstem and recorded the electrophysiological signals of facial nucleus neurons in the

[Radiodiagnosis of Le Fort type fractures].

Le Fort's fractures of maxillary bones are referred to grave injuries that require an accurate and urgent diagnosis. A total of 70 patients with different variants of such fractures were examined. The x-ray examination included polypositional roentgenography, linear tomography and panoramic sonography with the Sonarc apparatus. The injuries with all signs of Le Fort's fractures of two and even three types predominated, asymmetric injuries were rather frequent. Panoramic sonography with the patient in a modified position helped specify the volume and extension of the injury to the facial bones,

Maxillofacial Fractures: Midface and Internal Orbit-Part I: Classification and Assessment.

Fractures of the midface and internal orbit occur isolated or in combination with other injuries. Frequently, the patients are first seen in emergency rooms responsible for the coordination of initial diagnostic procedures, followed by the transfer to specialties for further treatment. It is, therefore, important for all physicians treating facial trauma patients to understand the basic principles of injuries to the midface. Thus, this article aims to describe the anatomy and the current classification systems in use, the related clinical symptoms, and the essential diagnostic measures to obta
