The authors report on 23 cases of primary Fallopian tube carcinoma occurring over the past 50 years. In addition, the literature of the past 30 years was reviewed. The 5-year survival rate was 40%, increasing considerably with lower tumor stage or better tumor differentiation. The adjuvant therapies used did not prolong survival. Results were compared to other studies, and diagnostic and therapeutic trends are pointed out. DNA ploidy has been studied in 61 primary fallopian tube carcinomas using image-cytometry. The investigation also included survival analysis, and ploidy classification according to AUER was performed in order to evaluate its prognostic impact for fallopian tube carcinoma. Levels of CA-125 were determined pre- and postoperatively in 13 patients with fallopian tube cancer. Values before surgery were significantly higher (Median 1220 IU/ml, 90-5000 IU/ml) compared with postoperative levels (Median 194 IU/ml, 67-880 IU/ml) (P = 0.0052). Correlation analysis with FIGO stage and grading failed to show any statistical significance, but a trend for a positive correlation with FIGO stage and preoperative values could be observed. The CA-125 antigen is expressed by fallopian tube carcinoma and should therefore be used in diagnosis and follow-up.

The first reported case of cerebellar metastasis from primary clear cell adenocarcinoma of the fallopian tube is presented. The authors report the result of a study carried out on 16 cases of tubal adenocarcinoma treated between the years 1975 and 1988. This is a rare gynaecological cancer with a poor prognosis. The linear everting catheter is a new technology that allows for nonhysteroscopic, transvaginal access, and microendoscopy of the fallopian tube. Initial results indicate that this approach is safe, successful, and offers a number of unique advantages relative to the available alternatives. Studies are in progress to explore several of the many possible applications of this system in the diagnosis and treatment of infertile patients.

Nine cases of tubal carcinoma were found in a period of 20 years in JIPMER Hospital among approximately 9,000 gynaecological malignancies. Most patients were diagnosed as malignant ovarian tumour, but two cases presented unusually, one as Meig's syndrome and another as acute hemoperitoneum. This often stressed symptom of amber discharge or hydrops tubae profluens could not be elicited in any patient. All the patients underwent surgical treatment and radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The period of follow up ranged from two months to four and half years.

Malignant mixed müllerian tumor of the fallopian tube is extremely rare, with less than 50 cases recorded in the English literature. Another case is reported and discussed. This 66-year-old female patient complained of profuse watery vaginal discharge for one month.
