The study of reversible inactivation process of alternative pathway of electron transfer in cyanide-resistant mitochondria of C. lipolytica yeast was carried out. The appearance of sensitivity of respiration of cyanide-resistant mitochondria to cyanide and lowering of sensitivity of substrate oxidation to benzohydroxamic acid (the inhibitor of electron transfer along the alternative pathway) during the incubation was observed. The effect of tripeptide NH2CO-Arg-Pro-Val-NH2, the analogue of common fragments of some peptide hormones and kinins, on the content of ascorbic acid in rat adrenal glands in vivo is studied. It is shown that the peptide (5 divided by 3000 mkg/100 g body weight) produces no effect on the content of ascorbic acid in adrenal glands, but its injection half an hour before the administration of native ACTH canses a significant increase in the ACTH activity. The peptide possesses the myotropic activity; it exerts sinergism and potentiation of the ACTH action on rat ascending colon.

Glutamine synthetase (GS) (E.C.6.3.1.2) activity in Chlorella cells decreased when NH4+ was added to nitrogen-free growth medium. The endogenous RNApolymerase activity of isolated cell nuclei and chloroplasts from young pea plants (Pisum sativum) has been studied. The presence of all four nucleoside triphosphates and Mg2+ ions is necessary for the reaction. The missing of one of these nucleotides from the reaction mixture, especially ATP, sharply decreases the transcription. Chloroplasts synthesize RNA per DNA unit more intensively, than nuclei. Extracts of Thiocapsa roseopersicina cells show hydrogenase activity, measured by evolution of H2 from reduced methylviologene (MV) and by D2-H2O exchange reaction. According to these reactions the most part of hydrogenases is found to be in the soluble fraction.
