The case is reported of an arteriovesical fistula after a gunshot wound to the pelvis in a 29-year-old man. It developed 20 days after an exploratory laparotomy with primary suture of the bladder. The patient presented with intermittent gross hematuria and diagnosis was made through cystoscopy and arteriogram. Treatment was initially performed through open embolization. Rupture of the urinary collecting system associated with peripelvic extravasation of the urine is an unusual condition and commonly associated with obstructing calculus. We report a patient, recently given chemotherapy due to lymphoma, with acute abdomen symptoms. He had a renal pelvis rupture with perirenal extravasation of urine, an uncommon condition due to a stone in the ureter. Diagnosis was suspected on serial ultrasonography, and confirmed by computed tomograhy. Diagnosis, follow-up, and therapeutic approach are discussed.

Tumours of the renal pelvis are rare. We present a case of primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis masquerading as pyonephrosis clinically and diagnosed on histopathologic examination. Patient presented with pyonephrosis of the left kidney due to a large staghorn calculus and was treated with tube nephrostomy followed by nephrectomy.

Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare soft-tissue neoplasm found mainly in the female pelvis. Approximately 130 cases have been reported in the literature to date. In most cases treatment consists of surgical resection, but local recurrence rates remain high (36-72%). Therefore, long-term follow up is necessary and magnetic resonance imaging seems to be the preferred method for detecting recurrence. We report our experience of a primary and a recurrent aggressive angiomyxoma.

Glomus tumors are uncommon benign perivascular neoplasms that have rarely been described outside of their usual peripheral soft tissue sites. We report a unique case of glomus tumor of the renal pelvis in a 53-year-old woman who presented with microscopic hematuria associated with obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction and marked hydronephrosis. At initial gross examination, the tumor mimicked a urothelial carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: Thymoma is the most common tumor of the anterior mediastinum. Perineal neuralgias may be considered as nerve entrapment syndromes, which have been anatomically poorly studied. The pudendal nerve could be compressed between the sacrospinal and the sacrotuberal ligaments. This study tries to find a correlation between the pelvis and the lumbosacral junction morphometry, and sacrospinal and sacrotuberal ligaments morphometry. We did an anatomical study of eight anatomic specimens, and we performed the measures by using the computed tomography scanner. No correlations were found.

From July 1992 through March 1999, 213 patients with malignant bone tumors of the extremities (176 patients) and pelvis (37 patients) were treated by microwave-induced hyperthermia. Most adverse events related to central venous catheter (CVC) use in severely ill neonates who require total parenteral nutrition (TPN) are caused by malposition of the tip of the catheter, followed by complications such as infection, sepsis, thrombosis or, rarely, perforation of the vessel. Malpositioned tip of a CVC into the renal vein followed by thrombosis is well known. We report two cases of perforation of a CVC into the renal pelvis. To prevent this complication, the value of intra- or postoperative use of fluoroscopy with injection of contrast medium through the catheter is discussed.

In order to investigate the potential hand contribution to sideways balance, sideways pushes to the right, which subjects resisted using either the lower limbs ("hip only") or the lower limbs assisted by the right upper limb ("hand and hip"), were delivered to the pelvis.
