In order to relieve mechanical obstruction caused by rectal carcinoma, a bare rectal stent was inserted in the sigmoid colon of a 70-year-old female. The procedure was successful, and for one month the patient made good progress. She then complained of abdominal pain, however, and plain radiographs of the chest and abdomen revealed the presence of free gas in the subdiaphragmatic area. We describe herein an extremely rare case of clear cell type ovarian carcinoma resulting in fistula formation into the colon and intestine. The patient was a 61-year-old woman in whom a large tumor with extravasation from the sigmoid colon was found by barium enema examination. The tumor was preoperatively diagnosed as left ovarian cancer by angiography which showed the tumor feeder arising from the left ovarian and uterine arteries.

We describe the case of a 24-year-old woman with a giant cell tumor originating from the distal part of the sacrum, which was almost completely filling the pelvis and extending to the umbilicus. At laparotomy, the tumor was separated from all of the pelvic structures including the ureters. The sigmoid colon was transected and the tumor was dissected down to the pelvic floor. A separate perineal incision was made, the rectovaginal septum was entered, and the posterior vaginal wall was bisected to give better access. Two cases in which the ureter was obstructed by an inflammatory diverticular mass are presented. The difficulties of distinguishing such a mass from a carcinoma both clinically and at operation are emphasized. In order to minimize the risk of ureteric injury and to facilitate planning of the operative procedure, it is recommended that intravenous pyelography should be performed before resection of a suspected diverticular mass.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: The authors report the results of emergency combined surgery on abdominal and pelvic organs in 995 patients for the period from 1990 to 2020 (30 years). Acute appendicitis was diagnosed in 698 (70.15%) patients. AIMS: Serrated adenoma (SA) is a relatively newly defined entity of colorectal neoplasm. In this study, we examined the cell proliferation, DNA ploidy, and clinicopathological features of SA in order to investigate its biological features.
