Three selected phenothiazines and their demethylated derivatives are chromatographed on different C18 bonded reversed-phase liquid chromatography columns. A quadratic equation fits the relationship log k versus the organic modifier percentage. When acetonitrile is the organic modifier, the demethylated derivative is eluted before the parent compound, whereas it is eluted after when methanol is the organic modifier. The log kw values are therefore different. Selectivity between the metabolite and the parent compound is higher with methanol.

This paper reports the first detailed study on meso-unsubstituted azuliporphyrins, an important family of porphyrin-like molecules where one of the usual pyrrole rings has been replaced by an azulene subunit. A sensitive and specific high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method based upon laser-based polarimetric detection is developed for the determination of six tetracycline analogues. A new kinetic-spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of barbituric acid. The method is based on its inhibition effect on the reaction between hydrochloric acid and bromate. The decolorization of methyl orange by the reaction products was used to monitor the reaction spectrophotometrically at 510 nm. The variable affecting the rate of the reaction was investigated. The geometry of porphyrins has been and continues to be a subject of vigorous research. In this work we investigated the planarity of a series of divalent metal chlorins in n-octane solutions: magnesium, zinc, copper, nickel, cobalt, manganese, tin, cadmium, strontium, lead and platinum. The pigment was extracted from various tissues of two strains of Silky fowl to determine its molecular structure and internal distribution. Mercury and its organic (CH3 HgCl) and inorganic (HgCl2) compounds are very poisonous. The analytical control of trace amounts of metals in products that are used in the food industry is of great importance. In this work, the determination of mercury, present at trace levels in industrial unfrothing preparations. Mercury was determined by the cold-vapour atomic absorption spectrometry. The method allows for accurate determination of mercury and as little as 0.01 mg ph Hg per kilogram of product can be determined.

We describe a new high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for measurement of midazolam and its major metabolite, alpha-hydroxymidazolam, in clinical samples. Plasma or urine was mixed with 100 ng internal standard Ro 05-6669 and borate buffer, 0.1 M, pH 9. Midazolam and its related compounds were extracted into diethylether. The enantiomers of the antiinflammatory drug Etodolac were separated without derivatization on Chiralcel OD and Pirkle (R)-DNBPG columns. Enantiomeric purity can be determined in less than 10 min. Optimization of separation was evaluated using various concentrations of 2-propanol (doped with TFA) in hexane as the mobile phase.

Six different methods for assessing amniotic fluid bilirubin were compared in 111 samples from 37 patients.
