Using Co-Designed Norm-Based Nudges to Promote Mental Health Help-Seeking Intentions Among Older Adults: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Older adults face a substantial burden of common mental disorders, yet they are less likely to seek professional help compared to younger adults. In Chinese contexts, collectivist values and stigma may further deter help-seeking. Social norms are central to the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and nudge theory, suggesting that norm-based messages, especially those that are visually engaging, could strengthen perceived social approval and subsequent help-seeking intentions. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of co-designed norm-based nudges, delivered in descr

Machine Learning in Causal Effect Estimation and Causal Evaluation of ML-Enabled Interventions in Nursing-Related Research: A Scoping Review.

Machine learning (ML) informs nursing practice, but prediction cannot establish intervention or workflow effects. Aim To map ML use within causal effect estimation and causal evaluations of ML-enabled interventions in nursing and midwifery. Eight electronic sources were searched for reports published January 2015-June 2026, followed by backward citation searching. Eligibility required a causal estimand, corresponding identification strategy, substantive ML role, and nursing or midwifery relevance. Two reviewers independently screened records and full texts. Fifteen studies (17 reports) were in

Infants' Daily Routines Shape Opportunities for Perceptual-Motor Exploration.

How infants spend time in everyday life is an important source of day-to-day, infant-to-infant, and age-related variability in development. Here, we measured the frequency of macro-level activity categories-playing, eating and drinking, napping, going on errands, bathing and dressing, watching media, book reading, and being comforted-in infants aged 4-7 and 10-13 months recruited from across the United States (55% female assigned at birth; 40% male assigned at birth; 5% unknown). Unlike past work that used retrospective estimates, we used an ecological momentary assessment sampling method to o

Where did they go? Describing and reengaging people with HIV lost to follow-up in the PISCIS Cohort Study.

Reengaging patients lost to follow-up (LTFU) is crucial to achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. This study analyses an intervention aimed at identifying and reengaging LTFU individuals in the PISCIS Cohort in Catalonia. The cohort included 28,033 people living with HIV (PLWH) across 17 hospitals in Catalonia and two in the Balearic Islands as of 2021. LTFU was defined as no contact with HIV care in any Catalan hospital for ≥12 months between June 2021 and January 2010. At four hospitals, suspected LTFU cases were confirmed through clinical records and followed up via phone calls, text messag

The experiences of sexually assaulted people attending Saint Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre for a forensic medical examination.

This study explores the experiences of people who have attended Saint Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) for a forensic medical examination (FME). Within the United Kingdom, SARCs support complainants following a sexual assault, delivering specialised care and gathering medico-legal evidence for court proceedings. To date, there has been limited research evaluating SARCs responses towards complainants. 863 Feedback and Evaluation forms, from a three-year period, completed by clients who had accessed Saint Mary's SARC's forensic medical examination service were evaluated. Nonadherence after pediatric renal transplantation: detection and treatment.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Nonadherence is a problem in adolescents and young adults. Risk factors are classified as those of the individual, family, health-care-system, or community. I present the latest reports and how to tackle nonadherence. RECENT FINDINGS: Nonadherence risk is independent of one's origin in a high-poverty or low-poverty neighborhood or having private or public insurance in respect to African Americans. Females with male grafts have higher graft-failure risks than do males. Female recipients aged 15-24 with grafts from female donors have higher graft-failure risk than do males. I

Formative research for an mHealth program to improve the HIV care continuum in South Africa.

In South Africa, high attrition rates throughout the care continuum present major barriers to controlling the HIV epidemic. Mobile health (mHealth) interventions may provide innovative opportunities for efficient healthcare delivery and improving retention in care. In this formative research, we interviewed 11 patients and 28 healthcare providers in North West Province, South Africa, to identify perceived benefits, concerns and suggestions for a future mHealth program to deliver HIV Viral Load and CD4 Count test results directly to patients via mobile phone. Thematic analysis found that reduce

Rumination interacts with life stress to predict depressive symptoms: An ecological momentary assessment study.

Rumination is a well-established vulnerability factor for depression that may exert deleterious effects both independently and in interaction with stress. The current study examined momentary ruminative self-focus (MRS) and stress-reactive rumination (SRR) as predictors of depressive symptoms utilizing a smartphone ecological momentary assessment (EMA) design. 121 undergraduates responded to four text message alerts per day for one week in which they indicated the occurrence of life stress, rumination, and depressed mood. SRR, but not MRS, independently predicted increases in depressive sympto

Uptake of community-based integrated HIV and sexual and reproductive health services for young people in Zimbabwe: the CHIEDZA study.

INTRODUCTION: Limited engagement with health services contributes to the poorer HIV care outcomes observed in young people. We conducted a cluster-randomised trial to investigate the impact of community-based integrated HIV and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) service (CHIEDZA) for young people on HIV outcomes in three provinces in Zimbabwe. Here we examine the uptake of services. METHODS: In the 12 intervention arm clusters, weekly integrated HIV and SRH services were delivered from community centres to cluster residents aged 16-24 years over 30 months. Service components included HIV te

Evaluating the Effectiveness and Scalability of the World Health Organization MyopiaEd Digital Intervention: Mixed Methods Study.

BACKGROUND: The rapid rise of myopia worldwide, particularly in East and Southeast Asia, has implied environmental influences beyond genetics. To address this growing public health concern, the World Health Organization and International Telecommunication Union launched the MyopiaEd program. South Korea, with its high rates of myopia and smartphone use, presented a suitable context for implementing and evaluating the MyopiaEd program. OBJECTIVE: This is the first study to date to evaluate the effectiveness and scalability of the MyopiaEd program in promoting eye health behavior change among p

A Mobile Phone-Based Life Skills Training Program for Substance Use Prevention Among Adolescents: Pre-Post Study on the Acceptance and Potential Effectiveness of the Program, Ready4life.

BACKGROUND: Substance use and misuse often first emerge during adolescence. Generic life skills training that is typically conducted within the school curriculum is effective at preventing the onset and escalation of substance use among adolescents. However, the dissemination of such programs is impeded by their large resource requirements in terms of personnel, money, and time. Life skills training provided via mobile phones might be a more economic and scalable approach, which additionally matches the lifestyle and communication habits of adolescents. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to

The Messages Presented in Electronic Cigarette-Related Social Media Promotions and Discussion: Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: There has been a rapid rise in the popularity of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) over the last decade, with growth predicted to continue. The uptake of these devices has escalated despite inconclusive evidence of their efficacy as a smoking cessation device and unknown long-term health consequences. As smoking rates continue to drop or plateau in many well-developed countries, transnational tobacco companies have transitioned into the vaping industry and are now using social media to promote their products. Evidence indicates e-cigarettes are being marketed on social media as

Impact of a Health Coach-Led, Text-Based Digital Behavior Change Intervention on Weight Loss and Psychological Well-Being in Patients Receiving a Procedureless Intragastric Balloon Program: Prospective Single-Arm Study.

BACKGROUND: Digital health interventions show promise for weight management. However, few text-based behavior change interventions have been designed to support patients receiving intragastric balloons, and none have simultaneously evaluated weight loss, psychological well-being, and behavior change despite the crucial interplay of these factors in weight management. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess whether a health coach-led, asynchronous, text-based digital behavior change coaching intervention (DBCCI) delivered to participants receiving an intragastric balloon and its aftercare program

A culturally adapted online Mediterranean diet intervention for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (TIMA): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) is widely recognized for its beneficial effects on hepatic steatosis. However, optimal strategies to support dietary adherence among patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), particularly in non-Mediterranean regions where the MedDiet is not habitual, remain underexplored. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of a culturally adapted MedDiet for MASLD through the implementation of real-time video counseling combined with behavior change techniques (BCTs). METHODS: This is a 12-week, single-center, two-arm,

From Awareness to Moral Redemption: Medicalisation, Stigma, and Anti-Establishment Aesthetics in the 'Obesity Without Filters' Spanish Campaign by Pharmaceutical Company Novo Nordisk.

This article examines how 'obesity' is discursively and narratively constructed in Novo Nordisk's 'Obesity Without Filters' campaign. Drawing on the premise that awareness campaigns function as ideological texts, it explores how discourses of empathy, moral responsibility, and biomedical authority shape public understandings of body weight - with particular attention to how such campaigns operate beyond Anglophone contexts, and how the further medicalisation of body weight may ultimately run counter to anti-stigma efforts. Using qualitative content analysis informed by framing theory, conceptu
