We report the case of a 15-year-old boy with Niemann-Pick disease type B with characteristic sonographic findings of splenic involvement. There were multiple well-defined echogenic nodular lesions within the spleen parenchyma, and these lesions were surrounded by ring-like blood flow on color Doppler imaging. Most of the patients with Niemann-Pick disease type B are children and they undergo repeated imaging studies. Therefore, familiarity with sonographic findings of the disease is required.

Testicular ischemia is typically seen with cases of testicular torsion. Twisting of the spermatic cord and compromise of testicular blood supply can induce testicular loss if not promptly discovered and treated. Non-torsion causes of testicular ischemia are uncommon with rare citations in the literature. Herein, we present a case of testicular ischemia induced by traumatic thrombosis of the spermatic vessels.

BACKGROUND: Appendectomy is the traditional surgical procedure for correcting torsion of the adnexa. Although it prevents pulmonary embolism, ovarian necrosis, and secondary infection, it can have critical adverse effects on the ovarian function.
METHODS: We performed surgery for adnexal torsion in 12 patients, using high ligation of the ovarian vein, followed by removal of the ovarian tumor.
RESULTS: Blood flow in the residual ovary gradually returned to normal within 1 - 3 months, and a dominant follicle could be seen in the residual ovary within 2 - 6 months post-surgery in all the 12 cas

OBJECTIVE: To explore the application value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in the diagnosis of acute experimental incomplete testicular torsion.
METHODS: Seven incomplete and 1 complete testicular torsion models were established in 8 healthy hybrid dogs by twisting unilateral spermatic cord. The twisted testes were included in the model group and the healthy ones in the control. Ganglioneuroma is a rare benign tumor, usually seen in children and young adults, arising in the central nervous system. Most of the noncranial ganglioneuromas are located in the posterior mediastinum and the retroperitoneum. We report the first case of a primary, adult paratesticular ganglioneuroma that presented as a paratesticular mass. The patient underwent surgical intervention for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

We report a case of 50-year-old man with high flow priapism after blunt perineal trauma. Patient evaluation included intracavernal blood-gasometry, cavernography, color flow Doppler sonography, and internal pudendal arteriography. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical importance of a unilateral striated pattern seen on high-resolution sonography of a testicle on the basis of follow-up imaging.
CONCLUSION: In the absence of relevant clinical findings or an abnormal signal on color-flow or power Doppler sonography, a striated pattern of a testicle appears to have no clinical importance. It is presumed to represent fibrosis, and the patient most likely can be followed up clinically and sonographically rather than having to undergo surgical exploration.

Malignant urachal lesions are exceedingly rare and occur predominantly in adult life. In this case report, an adult patient with urachal carcinoma is presented with abdominal plain film, intravenous urography, gray-scale ultrasonography (US), Doppler US, and computed tomography (CT). Doppler US successfully showed the neovascularity with low resistive index value in the urachus tumor. We believe that Doppler US examination is helpful in the differential diagnosis of urachal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to report the sonographic appearance of focal thyroid nodules that prove to be lymphocytic thyroiditis on fine-needle aspiration.
