The objective of this study was to examine the heterogeneity of the subvesical duct or the ducts of Luschka as well as the reliability of drip-infusion cholangiography with computed tomography (DIC-CT) for their identification. DIC-CT was used in 277 consecutive patients (135 men, 142 women) and for the dissection and histologic study of 10 cadaver livers. We found 32 subvesical ducts in 28 (10.1%) of 277 patients. The duration of discharge of Entomophthora schizophorae (Zygomycetes: Entomophthorales) conidia from house fly (Musca domestica, Diptera) cadavers was measured at 7, 18, and 25 degrees C. After experimental implantation in non-fractured cadaver femora, the ASIF dynamic hip screw system supported the femoral neck and the lateral proximal femur and prevents deformation, depending on the vector of the resultant force. Three positions of weight-bearing were simulated: near-axial loading of the femoral neck, standing on one leg and standing on two legs. After removal of the metal the bone breaking point was markedly lowered.
