A case of partial hydatidiform mole revealed by genetic marker analysis one maternal and two paternal chromosome complements. Levels of serum human chorionic gonadotropin were persistently elevated during follow-up. Avillous curettage specimens prior to chemotherapy were morphologically suspicious for gestational choriocarcinoma. It is still uncertain whether the risk for gestational choriocarcinoma preceded by partial mole exceeds the risk related to non-molar abortions. Careful follow-up with serial serum human chorionic gonadotropin levels is required to detect persistent disease.

Hepatic ectopic pregnancy is an uncommon form of extrauterine pregnancy. A 31-year-old woman had acute abdominal pain and distention. Laboratory examination showed significantly increased serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin level. Both ultrasound and MRI identified a lesion located at the right lobe of the liver. FDG PET/CT was performed to determine whether the other causes of elevated β-human chorionic gonadotropin level, which showed an oval mass with mid peripherally increased FDG activity. After surgery, pathological results confirmed a diagnosis of hepatic ectopic pregnancy.

Twenty seven patients with unruptured tubal pregnancy were selected for nonsurgical treatment with the use of one injection of 12.5 mg of methotrexate into the ectopic site at laparoscopy. No adverse reactions were observed. In three patients (11%), a laparotomy was performed because of rising beta-human chorionic gonadotropin titers.
