BACKGROUND: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease. Patients with lupus nephritis (LN) complicated by thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) exhibit high mortality and poor renal outcomes. We used [14C]butanol distribution to measure regional spinal cord blood flow (RSCBF) in three groups of pentobarbital-anesthetized rats: 1) normals (n = 16); 2) after bilateral adrenalectomy (n = 18); and 3) after excision of the abdominal sympathetic chains (n = 12). Ravulizumab, a humanized, long-acting monoclonal antibody against complement factor C5, is a widely used treatment for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).
