The bleeding complications of some forms of thrombocytopenia are difficult to control. Many patients become refractory to platelet transfusions even when HLA-matched. We have successfully used aminocaproic acid to control bleeding in 13 patients with amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia. Four patients receiving long-term therapy with this drug had striking reductions in the number of platelet transfusions required for capillary bleeding. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections are ubiquitous. Children are infected with HSV resulting in totally asymptomatic acquisition to life-threatening disease. Therapy of HSV diseases of children can be considered according to severity and time of acquisition. Neonatal herpes simplex virus infections take one of three forms--disease localized to skin, eye, or mouth (SEM), encephalitis, or multiorgan disseminated disease. RESULTS: All three oral dosage forms of phenobarbital are bioequivalent. No significant differences in Tmax were observed.
CONCLUSION: The oral solution in Myvacet 9-08, and the suspension of phenobarbital proved to be bioequivalent to a tablet.

Twenty onchocerciasis patients from the rain-forest zone of Western Nigeria were treated with amodiaquine in total dosages ranging from 22 to 68 mg/kg of body weight given over 2-9 days. There was no activity against either the microfilariae or adult forms of Onchocerca volvulus. It is concluded that the drug, which was poorly tolerated by 12 patients, is ineffective against human onchocerciasis.
