Epidermal nevus syndrome is a rare congenital sporadic neurocutaneous disorder characterized by an epidermal nevus and various developmental abnormalities of the skin, eyes, nervous, cardiovascular and urogenital systems. We describe a patient with an extensive epidermal nevus associated with various organ abnormalities, particularly polyostotic fibrous dysplasia, central nervous system lipoma, and aplasia cutis. Our patient demonstrates the polymorphic spectrum of involvement in epidermal nevus syndrome.

The combined nevus is a clinical simulator of melanoma, and clinical examination alone can be inadequate to diagnose this melanocytic pigmented skin lesion. Dermoscopy is a useful tool to differentiate the features related to each type of nevus. We report two cases of combined nevi dermoscopically characterized by a diffuse blue-whitish pigmentation similar to the blue-whitish veil, suggesting the diagnosis of melanoma.

PURPOSE: To report bilateral choroidal hemangiomas associated with unilateral facial nevus flammeus in Sturge-Weber syndrome.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 6-year-old male with a left facial nevus flammeus and a history of a left cerebral angioma had been followed 2 years for increasing esotropia. Examination demonstrated bilateral diffuse choroidal hemangiomas with overlying exudative retinal detachments. The dysplastic nevus (DN) is the most important risk factor and precursor for malignant melanoma. The authors compared the responses of 132 consecutive cases of DN, 186 consecutive cases of cutaneous melanoma, and 239 controls attending the same subspecialty clinic to questions regarding sun sensitivity, sun exposure, and other possible risk factors. We have reviewed a series of 36 patients with the basal cell nevus syndrome seen at Roswell Park Memorial Institute from 1950 to 1978. Among these patients a number of disastrous complications occurred.
