It has been postulated that levels of fluctuating asymmetry in human faces may be negatively related to components of fitness such as parasite-resistance; hence potential mates with low levels of asymmetry may appear more attractive. 24 gingival recessions were treated with free gingival autografts. The root coverage was evaluated by a new method: surfacic quantimetry by image analysis. This present study compares the linear and surfacic results. After statistic study, the linear coverage was evaluated at 26.74% (+0,813 mm for an initial height of 3,040 mm) and the surfacic coverage at 19.10% (+1,223 mm2 for an initial surface of 6,400 mm2).

Amiloride is an inhibitor of urokinase-type plasminogen activator, and might therefore have an inhibitory effect on neovascularization. Neovascularization was induced in rabbit corneas via local implantation of prostaglandin E1 pellets prepared in a slow-release polymer. The fluctuation of pallor with increasing IOP could be due to either insufficient reliability of the method or to an unrecognized pulsating phenomenon. A better arrangement should eliminate imperfection of the method. Coupling the release with the ECG should reveal a relationship to the arterial pulse rate. Neither condition could be demonstrated as the reason for the fluctuation. The connection of the fluctuation and its possible relationship to central venous pressure is discussed. The margin of error is shown, which is 9% on average.

We studied 564 patients who underwent cataract surgery, using preoperative and postoperative endothelial cell photographs and corneal thickness measurements. No statistically significant difference was noted in endothelial cell loss between patients with intracapsular cataract extraction (12.6%) and those undergoing posterior chamber phacoemulsification (15.2%). Both procedures had significantly less cell loss than with anterior chamber phacoemulsification (27.3%). We propose a numerical three-dimensional (3D) ray-tracing model for the analysis of advanced corneal refractive errors. The 3D modeling was based on measured corneal elevation data by means of Scheimpflug photography. BACKGROUND: Vulvar eczematous dermatitis predisposes patients to superimposed infections, which may result in late diagnosis and architectural destruction. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection is on the rise in genitalia and lower extremities.
CASE: A 44-year-old woman presented with recurrent vulvar lesions and pain. A diagnosis of MRSA in the setting of eczema was achieved with concomitant use of photography and dermatopathologic review.
