Persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPH) together with pulmonary hypoplasia accounts for high mortality among patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). We herein report the case of a patient with lichenoid plaques on the lower extremities and anonychia of all toenails. Histologically, the eruption showed typical features of lichen planus, with the exceptional finding of a lichenoid infiltrate composed mostly of plasma cells. Only two other similar cases have been reported. The explanation for the numerous plasma cells remains unknown although such cases may represent a new histologic variant.

Plasma renin activity (PRA) was measured in 50 consecutive patients (aged 4 months to 12 years) admitted during the acute phase of the haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS). Colloid osmotic pressure (COP) of some of the most frequently used plasma replacement fluids was measured with a colloid osmometer. COP of 4% human albumin solutions was only half that of normal human serum (13.6 +/- 0.6 vs. 27.5 +/- 2.7 mmHg (1.8 +/- 0.1 vs. 3.7 +/- 0.4 kPa)) (mean +/- s.d.), whereas COP of 20% human albumin solutions was eight times higher (196.0 +/- 12.3 mmHg (26.1 +/- 1.6 kPa)). The present study was conducted to examine whether lipid levels would be related to cynical hostility (an attitudinal component of hostility), expressive hostility (a behavioral component of hostility), and neurotic hostility (an emotional component of hostility). The effects of parenterally-administered buprenorphine and simultaneous injection of naloxone was evaluated in six healthy adult males. Ten patients with plasma cell leukaemia (PCL), out of 259 cases of multiple myeloma diagnosed in the Haematology Service of the University Hospital of Barcelona in the last 18 years, are presented. No clinically significant change in electrolyte status was observed after enteroclysis, although some dilution occurred.
