Controlled-release permanganate (CRP) is a relatively new technology used to treat contaminated groundwater. This study tested the encapsulation of permanganate using stearic acid to realize controlled-release properties. Batch experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of manganese oxides (MnO2) in the reaction between CRP and the contaminant of interest: tetrachloroethylene (PCE). An episodic movement disorder is described in a young German shorthaired pointer. Movement disorders are rare, but well-described, neurological conditions in human beings. An attempt is made to classify this disorder using current human guidelines. Unlike previously described movement disorders in dogs, this case responded very well to two commonly used anticonvulsant therapies, suggesting that trial therapy with these drugs is worthwhile in similar cases.

BACKGROUND: Pityrosporum folliculitis is a common inflammatory skin disorder that may mimic acne vulgaris. Some adolescents with recalcitrant follicular pustules or papules may have acne and Pityrosporum folliculitis simultaneously. Clinical response is dependent on treating both conditions.

The electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NO3RR) provides a promising route for simultaneous nitrate (NO3-) removal and sustainable ammonia (NH3) production. However, this process is limited by complex reaction pathways and sluggish kinetics. Herein, carbon-supported Fe13Ge8 intermetallic compounds (i.e. Fe13Ge8/C) are synthesized via a high-temperature annealing strategy.
