Previously, our group engineered a plant-derived monoclonal antibody (MAb pE16) that efficiently treated West Nile virus (WNV) infection in mice. BACKGROUND: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have found more than 20 genes associated with a risk of non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P). However, the interactions between these risk genes have been rarely reported.
METHODS: Here we selected 47 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNP) from previous GWASs and tested for possible interactions among 302 NSCL/P case-parent trios from a western Han Chinese population to further explore the genetic etiology of NSCL/P. Conditional logistic regression models were performed including gene-gene (G×G) interaction.

Attention to the living arrangements of singles has centered around young adults who increasingly reside with their parents. By comparison, midlife singles remain overlooked despite a substantial rise in singlehood during this life-course stage. Data from the Worcester Family Research Project were analyzed to determine whether social support processes are altered by poverty and whether kin and nonkin support are differentially related to mental health in low-income mothers. The authors found that conflict with family and friends predicted adverse mental health and more strongly predicted these outcomes than emotional and instrumental support. Moreover, sibling conflict was a stronger predictor of mental health than parent conflict. Finally, only instrumental support from professionals predicted mental health.
