Between April 1986 and April 1989, the authors conducted a prospective study of the use of open-loop anterior chamber intraocular lenses (AC IOLs) in patients undergoing penetrating keratoplasty for pseudophakic bullous keratopathy or monocular aphakic bullous keratopathy. All patients underwent the same operation--a penetrating keratoplasty combined with insertion of an open-loop AC IOL. Pseudophakic patients had an IOL exchange at the time of surgery. PURPOSE: To describe the application of the light adjustable lens (LAL) using an intrascleral haptic fixation (ISHF) technique for the correction of aphakia and post-operative refractive error.
OBSERVATION: The LAL was placed using a modified trocar-based ISHF technique for visual rehabilitation following removal of bilateral cataracts in a patient with ectopia lentis. She ultimately obtained an excellent refractive outcome after adjustment with micro-monovision.

A 6-month-old Leine sheep was presented because of dermal tissue located on the left eye. During the first examination, the animal was clinically silent, apart from the deformed eye. The importance of the scleral buckling technique without vitrectomy is discussed with reference to a patient with aphakia, myopia and morning-glory redetachment. Since October 1977, the authors have attempted 32 keratophakias (refractive corneal surgery using an interlamellar homograft disc). UNLABELLED: We present a technique for posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) scleral suturing for the management of aphakia, which includes the use of a needleless Gore-Tex CV-8 suture to create a girth hitch around both IOL fixation eyelets using microinstruments. This paper reports a case of a 57-year old female who had sustained a blunt ocular trauma resulting in anterior dislocation of the crystalline lens and acute painful visual loss in the left eye. We examined the aqueous humor by electron microscopy of four patients with atopic dermatitis and retinal detachment. All the patients had a moderate number of cells in the aqueous humor.
